Lathe Operator

ATS Scientific Products is expanding our team in Vineland, NJ and have immediate openings for a Lathe Operator. In this position the right candidate will be asked to perform a variety of duties related to the manufacturing and development of products within the scientific glass industry.

Hours are Monday- Thursday on 1st Shift - 4/10s schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

+ Ability to run all lathe machines

+ Capable of holding tolerances according specifications

+ Operator must know what produces certain effects heat speed vacuum and how to correct them

+ Must have understanding of mandrels and their care

+ Basic knowledge of routine setups

+ Advise supervision when equipment repairs are needed

+ Ability to follow work instruction work orders and process sheets

+ Complete department related paperwork

+ Advise supervision when any out of standard condition occurs

+ Assist in training of new personnel

+ Responsible for measuring your work

+ Must observe all safety precautions rules and regulations

Qualifications/Education

+ Mathematical skills

+ Experience with glass lathes and glass tools in a high precision specification environment is required

+ High School Diploma

+ Ability to speak read and write in English

+ Able to solve practical problems.

+ Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form

+ Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures

+ Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods

+ Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts

+ Report defect in any equipment or protective device

+ Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks

+ Attend all required health, safety and environmental training

+ Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor

+ Assist in investigating accidents/incidents

+ Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
