    The Position

    Family Services Supervisors plan, organize, and direct day-to-day activities of an assigned unit comprised of Family Services Specialists.

     

    Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

     

    The Division of Social Services (DSS) is currently recruiting for a vacancy within the Business Process Reengineering (BPR) Core Team. Under general supervision, the selected candidate will lead Family Services Specialists who support Field Operations and other DSS areas, focusing on streamlining work processes, increasing capacity, and enhancing efficiency. This includes ensuring staff follow established business processes designed to improve timeliness, program accuracy, and customer service. Supervisory duties also include overseeing staff who determine initial and ongoing eligibility for public assistance programs such as SNAP, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medical Assistance, Medical Assistance for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (MAABD), and Employment and Support Services.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

     

    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of journey level experience performing social services case processing duties which included application of rules and regulations, conducting personal interviews with applicants for the purpose of exchanging information, documenting facts pertinent to program requirements, and researching financial circumstances and determining eligibility; OR two years of experience as a Family Services Specialist III in Nevada State service in child support enforcement; OR one year of experience as a Family Services Specialist III in Nevada State service in eligibility or employment and training; OR two years of experience as a Family Service Specialist II in Nevada State service in eligibility or employment and training; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Special Requirements

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.

     

    Additional Position Criteria

     

    This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
