Job Description
The Business Manager is the primary staff person responsible for financial transactions (revenues and expenses) of the Transportation and Parking Services approximate $6.5- million annual budget. This includes oversight of two full-time classified staff members, and oversight of two fund balances. Working with the Director and Associate Director, the Business Manager is responsible for verification of the department’s revenue and expense transactions through the university’s financial management system – Banner.

Considerable knowledge of accounting best practices and the ability to apply best practices. The ability to enter, manipulate, and summarize financial data from multiple sources and produce both detailed and summary reports. Advanced skill working in spreadsheets to format data in both tabular and graphic (chart) formats. Substantial practice with tracking revenue and expense trends to budgeted expectations. Superior ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of effective supervisory techniques, including employee training and development, problem solving, conflict resolution, and account relationship management. Demonstrated organizational skills including extensive knowledge of paper and digital recordkeeping and reporting functions. Ability to interpret, apply, and explain established policies and procedures.

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience working in a financial accounting position for public sector government (local, state or federal), private corporation, or non-profit organization. Management experience in a customer service industry supervising both full-time and part-time employees. Demonstrated experience managing staff using performance metrics and standards. Demonstrated experience training and developing both full-time and part-time workforce. Demonstrated experience analyzing data to determine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Knowledge of the Banner financial management system; the eVA procurement system; a parking permit and parking citation management system. Work experience assisting with budget generation and monitoring at a public college or university. Work experience in the parking, transportation and mobility industry. Significant supervisory experience.
