    An integral part of the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education, this position assists in providing career services to students, alumni and alumnae. The Associate Director provides career assistance to students and alumni through workshops, in-class presentations, and individual contact. This position also assists in the development and maintenance of career information resources for non-profit, art, architecture, education, law, government, education and policy fields.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the caseload of students interested in designated career communities.

    • Implement effective career advising strategies for students with and without defined career goals in assigned career sectors regarding: career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing and networking techniques, as well as initial strategies for internships/externships/volunteer roles, summer jobs, and full-time positions.

    • Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback for students and alumni.

    • Develop and maintain digital and print resources to support and advance students’ career development.

    • Maintain a strong knowledge base of industry trends, hiring cycles and alum connections.

    • Assist students with graduate school application processes (e.g. identifying programs, application process and interview prep).

    • Provide outreach activities, including workshops and presentations in resident halls, classes and other campus locations, as well as with HWS clubs and organizations, academic departments, Greek organizations and other various campus populations.

    • Assist with marketing efforts for capability building programming.

    • Contribute the annual calendar of events for Career Services.

    • Assist with department activities and projects, including speaker events and Career Treks.

    • Contribute to monthly newsletters.

    • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends as programming requires.

    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    OTHER INFORMATION: This is a full-time, 12-month, 37.5 hours per week, benefits-eligible administrative position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year and a possible shortened work week during the scheduled summer hours time period. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Annual salary is $68,000.

     

    Experience in a non-profit setting; master's degree in Counseling, Education or the equivalent preferred. One plus years of professional experience in career development and/or graduate or professional school advising, human resources or the equivalent. Must be a versatile team player who thrives on student interaction and excels in relationship-building. Must have an understanding and appreciation of liberal arts with special appreciation for post-graduate study options. Must also understand and appreciate growing role technology plays in the delivery of Career Services.
