    Job Summary

    This seasonal position provides support to our concrete crews working on heavy highway, civil, and horizontal construction projects. The role requires a foundational understanding of civil construction, a strong work ethic, adaptability, and a proactive, team-focused approach.

     

    Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

     

    + Assist in setting string line to proper elevation and grade

    + Handle and set metal, wood, and wall forms

    + Place and level concrete using shovels, rakes, screed boards, and cumalongs

    + Finish concrete using various tools: hand float, edger, jointer, bull float, broom, slick trowel

    + Install ADA panels and other surface treatments

    + Operate concrete finishing equipment: vibra screeds, truss screeds, roller screeds, power trowels, walk-behind and soft cut saws

    + Assist with curb machine work and related forming/finishing tasks

    + Operate small tools and equipment: cordless drills, circular saws, quickie saws, hammer drills, sledgehammers

    + Maintain worksite cleanliness and assist with general labor duties

    + Perform traffic control (flagging), as needed

    + Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE

    Other Duties/Responsibilities

    + Assist others in department as needed.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    + Willingness to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and overtime with little notice

    + Reliable transportation with the ability to travel within a 90-mile radius from home office

    + Compliance with company Drug-Free & Alcohol-Free Workplace policies

    + Strong attendance, dependability, and punctuality

    + Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, dust, mud)

    + Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

    + Quick learner with a proactive work ethic and attention to safety

    + Physically able to perform the functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

     

    Education and Experience

     

    + Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in concrete construction

    + High school diploma or GED preferred

    + Experience with curb and flatwork preferred

    Physical Requirements

    + Lifting/Carrying: Up to 50 lbs. frequently

    + Pushing/Pulling: Up to 50 lbs. frequently

    + Movement: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, and lifting

    + Use of Hands: Frequent use for handling tools and equipment

    + Outdoor exposure: Must be able to work in varied weather and environmental conditions

     

    Working Environment

     

    + 100% field-based role on active construction job sites

    + Interaction with team members such as Foremen, Superintendents, Laborers, and Equipment Operators

    + Projects located across northern Indiana and northeastern Ohio
