POSITION SUMMARY:
The Plasma Power division of Advanced Energy is looking for an experienced, collaborative, motivated leader to lead a team in Fort Collins, Colorado, which develops and releases new product test solutions to manufacturing and service.
The Test Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team of Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineers. This team will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service on design for test (DfT), with the goal of releasing highly effective and efficient hardware and software test solutions for products to Manufacturing (primarily Asia) and Service (global). Test solutions are for internally developed 3-phase input power products which range from DC/pulsed DC to RF frequency output, typically from 2kW to 60kW. Test solution controls and automation typcially leverage NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, and Python. Often several new product developments are in process at one time and test solution development and release is rapid. The Test Engineering team is also responsible for developing and releasing subsystem and PCBA test solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Be a critical member of the New Product Development engineering team supporting senior management and our customers.
+ Lead a multi-disciplined team of Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineers.
+ Define and communicate clear roles and responsibilities, and goals and objectives to your team and make sure everyone is aligned to the requirements and commitments to our customers.
+ Collaborate with other cross functional teams such as Design Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), Product Management, Project Management, Materials Management, Reliability, Quality, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Service, Finance, and other teams as needed.
+ Accurately estimate project costs and schedules associated with implementing test solutions.
+ Develop, communicate, and implement plans consistent with organizational and business unit goals, including expense and capital budgeting, resource planning, goal setting, prioritizing, and managing time, etc.
+ Drive automation, digitalization, and best-in-class initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
+ Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and problem-solving within the team.
+ Ensure test engineering leads create and/or support project documents such as test requirement, test specifications, test plans, etc.
+ Ensure test engineering leads verify product test solutions meet functional requirements.
+ Ensure test engineering leads analyze test solution capabilities and ensure control of critical parameters of products and test equipment.
+ Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
+ Location: Fort Collins, Colorado
+ Works in a fast-paced engineering/manufacturing lab environment.
+ Ability to travel within the US and abroad for short periods of time to support new product launches as need.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Demonstrated leadership, excellent leadership skills
+ Experience leading and managing engineering teams and engineering projects
+ Strong understanding of manufacturing test environment
+ Demonstrated experience solving complex technical problems with minimal assistance
+ Ability to manage multiple projects
+ Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels and locations in the organization
+ Great verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to explore and evaluate new process technologies
+ Ability to work in fast-changing, dynamic environment
+ Proven track record of getting products to market and/or test solutions released
EXPERIENCE:
+ At least 7 years’ experience in related industries, preferably working with power electronics, but other relevant industry experience will be considered
+ Experience leading and managing engineering teams and engineering projects
+ Deep understanding of power electronics
+ Experience and expertise developing hardware and software test solutions
+ Experience and expertise with NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, Python, or C programming languages
+ Experience and expertise in programming automation and data collection
+ Experience with a variety of general-purpose test equipment use and automation, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQs, switches, function generators etc.
+ Experience with statistical process control techniques and methodologies
+ Experience with design engineering, and manufacturing and service environments
EDUCATION:
Essential
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field of science
Preferred
+ Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field of science
+ Master of Business Administration
+ Project Management certification
COMPENSATION:
_As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $125,000 to $160,000 per year._
