Join Athene’s Legal Team – We’re Hiring!

Athene is looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to support our Legal Department. In this role, you’ll work closely with teams across Operations, Sales, and Compliance to navigate a wide range of legal matters. From new business processing and annuity contract administration to claims handling, your contributions will help ensure our practices align with local, state, and federal regulations.

You’ll dive into legal research, review internal procedures and documentation, and offer thoughtful recommendations that support our business and legal strategies. We’re looking for someone with strong analytical skills, a knack for legal research, and the ability to work independently while staying connected with attorneys and business partners.

Accountabilities:

+ Review and respond to legal referrals received from multiple business units in support of issuing and administering annuity products.

+ Research on local, state, and federal laws; reviewing company procedures and documentation; providing recommendations; and supporting other legal

+ Proven ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize, and manage all matters and assigned tasks.

+ Produce accurate, high quality work product with the ability to closely manage multiple matters and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail.

+ Review and maintain 50-state surveys to ensure compliance with state specific requirements applicable to contract administration.

+ Respond to and work closely with business unit representatives in Operations, Sales and Compliance with respect to legal issues and situations impacting the annuities business, as well as other strategic and cross-business initiatives impacting the broader enterprise, consulting with attorneys as needed.

+ Assist with implementation of identified process improvements and best practices.

+ Perform legal research and analysis of statutory, regulatory, contractual and general business matters.

+ Other matters as assigned by supervising paralegal and attorneys.

Qualifications and Experience:

+ Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, paralegal certification or equivalent educational or employment experience.

+ 3+ years of legal experience in a corporate or private practice environment preferred.

+ An understanding of annuity and life insurance products, how they function, and key aspects of their administration is preferred.

+ Work effectively as a member of a legal team, including colleagues in other areas of the Company.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to influence across departments and persuasively build coalitions for new initiatives/ideas, which will include leading cross-functional activities of participants who do not report to Paralegal.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other applicable software .
