Job Description Summary
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. In addition, you will work on strategic initiatives to develop and meet long term objectives. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will:
+ Support shop floor to deliver business results while encouraging input from area personnel working within a self-directed workforce (Teaming) environment
+ Participate in the development of mid and long term plans outlining projects to support the business in meeting its objectives with a strong focus on cost, part quality and cycle time
+ Design and implement manufacturing processes and systems for control and replenishment of materials
+ Promote internal and external customer satisfaction and develop positive design engineering relationships
+ Exhibit ownership and take responsibility in attaining all aspects of production operation including safety, scheduling, quality, and team development in assigned areas
+ Plan and implement process-engineering activities for new product development and current product support
+ Provide manufacturing method development and improvement for current and new products
+ Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method of manufacture
+ Investigate and apply new technology in support of site growth plans
+ Assist supervisors and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action
+ Conduct training, process planning, evaluate operating methods, select controls, and specifies tools, fixtures and gages necessary to repeatedly build conforming hardware
+ Maintain the manufacturing engineering system on part routing and standards
+ Co-lead efforts to maintain and improve shop floor quality controls and best practices with area Product Team Leaders
+ Execute manufacturing related quality planning activities
+ Pursue continuous improvement for quality and cost reductions in designated area
+ Act as change agent, understanding and moving the operation toward benchmarked, best of class performance
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Engineering, OR, 4 years of Military Experience )
+ Minimum of 3 years in Manufacturing or Engineering

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a strong preference towards Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials from an accredited university or college
+ Direct experience with metal machining processes or strong education background with aptitude and desire to learn from experienced personnel
+ Experience with machining tool and fixture designs or improvement
+ Understands fundamentals of CNC machines and programming
+ Ability to make data driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools
+ Knowledge of safety agency regulations
+ Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes
+ Knowledge of ISO / quality procedures
