    Responsibilities*

    + Prepare treatment area, mobility equipment, exercise equipment, and/or ambulatory aids for patient care.

    + Transfer patients to and from exercise equipment or treatment mats/tables/beds.

    + Perform treatment procedures in accordance with programs planned by the Physical or Occupational Therapist.

    + Provides additional physical assistance during the provision of patient care.

    + Participates in ongoing maintenance programs for patient care equipment.

    + Responsible for inventory and maintaining a sufficient quantity of treatment supplies.

    + Transport patients as needed.

    + Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications*

    + High School diploma or an equivalent of education and experience necessary

    + Ability to understand and communicate both orally and in writing so others will understand

    + Ability to efficiently navigate electronic medical records and online scheduling system

    + Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and supporting patients through the entire work day

    + Basic computer skills

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Experience in working with patients having physical disabilities in a health care setting is desirable

    + On the job training in a physical therapy department is desirable

     

    Work Schedule

     

    Monday-Friday 10:30am-7pm

    Union Affiliation

     

    This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

     

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
