Publicis Groupe is searching for a talented individual to join the team and our bespoke agency for a globally recognized company known for its iconic brands across Snacking, Petcare and Food & Nutrition across our network and around the globe. Overview
The **Vice President, Data Science** at Starcom will lead the design, development, and deployment of end-to-end analytics solutions, with a strong emphasis on **hands-on development within the Databricks environment** . This role sits within our Analytics + Technology (A+T) team and serves as a key driver of innovation and applied analytics for both internal teams and external clients.
We are looking for a **self-sufficient, technically fluent leader** who can prototype solutions independently while effectively collaborating across diverse, cross-functional teams—including data engineers, software developers, strategists, media planners, and client stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is deeply curious, adaptable, and action-oriented—with the technical depth to build sophisticated solutions and the communication skills to make insights impactful across the organization.

Responsibilities
+ Lead the design and prototyping of advanced analytics applications, building directly within the Databricks ecosystem using Python, PySpark, and SQL.
+ Collaborate closely with media, marketing, and technology teams to understand business goals and identify opportunities where data science can create measurable value.
+ Translate complex business challenges into testable hypotheses and robust machine learning models.
+ Own the full lifecycle of analytics projects—from initial exploration and proof-of-concept to working with engineers to scale solutions for production use.
+ Work directly with internal and external stakeholders to plan and prioritize analytics roadmaps, ensuring solutions align to strategic goals.
+ Develop repeatable frameworks, best practices, and standards for advanced analytics, data modeling, and experimentation.
+ Guide the creation and maintenance of data pipelines, modeling workflows, and dashboards that integrate into existing enterprise data and visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau Server, MS SQL Server).
+ Mentor junior team members and act as a thought leader across the analytics organization.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics)
+ **5+ years of applied data science experience** , ideally within media, marketing, or a related industry.
+ **Expertise in Python** , SQL, and PySpark; strong comfort working in **Databricks** (including notebooks, job clusters, and serverless compute)
+ Deep understanding of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques, including but not limited to:
+ Regression (linear, logistic, survival, time-series)
+ Classification (SVM, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting)
+ Clustering (K-means, hierarchical)
+ Forecasting, experimental design, sensitivity analysis
+ Experience with core Python libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Plotly); familiarity with R or SAS is a plus.
+ Proven ability to **develop independently while communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders.**
+ Experience designing and deploying **analytics pipelines and solutions that integrate with APIs, databases, and enterprise platforms.**
+ Familiarity with digital media technologies (DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, etc.) and advertising analytics is strongly preferred.
+ Experience working in **hybrid or multi-cloud environments** (Azure, AWS, GCP) and technologies such as Snowflake, Spark, TensorFlow is a plus.
+ Previous experience in a media agency or marketing services environment is a strong plus.

The benefits offerings listed are available to U.S. based employees, are reviewed on an annual basis, and are governed by the terms of the applicable plan documents.
Compensation Range: $163,210 - $234,570 annaually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met.
