    Penn Medicine Princeton Health (PMPH) is seeking a per diem nursing assistant (NA) to work the day shift within the Mother Baby Unit. The Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) is a 24-bed postpartum unit providing couplet care for mothers and newborns, as well as low-risk antepartum patients. Our MBU nursing staff, obstetrical hospitalists, and neonatologists offer 24-hour, family-centered care.

     

    Lactation services are provided by our board certified lactation consultants and supported by our nurses who have extensive breastfeeding training . Mothers at risk for postpartum hypertensive complications are counseled and enrolled in our post-discharge surveillance program, Heart Safe Motherhood.

     

    Newborns are evaluated daily by pediatricians or neonatologists, and can be taken to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) should further evaluation be needed or complications arise. Newborn care procedures include hearing screens, evaluation and management of hyperbilirubinemia, car seat testing, screening for critical congenital heart defects, and metabolic screening. Patient education is central to postpartum care and address topics such as newborn care, maternal care and recognition of early warning signs of possible postpartum complications. Collaboration with Princeton Health’s Community Wellness services is also initiated as needed.

    Scheduling Requirements:

    + You will be required to work at least 1 day shift per week (7am-7pm)

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Assists nurses in the delivery of nursing care through participation in the nursing process.

    + Demonstrates the knowledge and skill specific to a patient care technician (i.e. ADLs, patient hygiene, vital signs, obtaining weights; emptying and documenting of intake and output, obtaining blood sugar checks; positioning patients; lifting and turning patients; ambulation of patients. etc).

    What We Require for this Role:

    Education

    + High school diploma or equivalent required.

    Related Work Experience

    + No related experience required for this role.

    LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) required

    + Nursing Assistant Course- Successful completion of hospital onsite course during first two weeks of orientation and prior to patient care assignment

    Salary Range:

    $18.73 - $29.31/Hourly
