Overview
Job Summary:
The Medical Education Specialist is responsible for administering medical education platforms supporting curriculum for medical students. This role collaborates with faculty and course directors to ensure appropriate course content, exam information, and data is sufficient to meet curriculum requirements to achieve learning objectives. This position develops reports for curriculum planning and analysis and ensures the integrity of data required to analyze student performance/progress and faculty effectiveness. The specialist ensures the accuracy of educational data for performance analysis and curriculum planning, while identifying process improvements to enhance efficiency and maintain compliance with educational accreditation rules and regulations. This position is responsible for cross-collaborating with Information Technology, Registrar’s Office, and all divisions of the College of Osteopathic Medicine. This position also liaises with external vendors to integrate data systems and serves as a subject matter expert in medical education technology, under the direction of the Assistant Dean OMS I & II. Responsible for all functions 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday, including rare weekend hours.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Configure and maintain educational platforms to increase workflow and accuracy.
+ Input calendars, learning objectives and other materials to the learning management systems by designated deadlines.
+ Import and categorize information needed for curriculum delivery, exams and schedules.
+ Coordinate student and faculty curricular events, including appropriately communicating with groups as needed by email or other means.
+ Analyze data and develop reports for committee meetings.
+ Develop reports and analysis of student performance for Division of Academic or Clinical Affairs.
+ Collaborate on standard operating procedure (SOP) and training material development for course directors and faculty.
+ Assist with residency match activities and other College of Osteopathic Medicine functions and events.
+ Coordinate guest lectures and relevant events supporting this role in medical education.
+ Perform other accountabilities as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, educational technology, or higher education.
+ Two (2) years of experience in an academic or other relevant professional school setting.
Desired Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in healthcare, educational technology, or higher education.
+ Three (3) years of experience in an academic or other relevant professional school setting. Experience with learning management systems (LMS) or other educational technologies. Experience in undergraduate medical education program.
