    McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is looking for an **Academic Designer, Literacy/Grades 3-5** for our School division. As an Academic Designer, you will focus on creating high-quality content and curriculum tailored to specific program requirements. Your role involves understanding solution design and collaborating with the Academic Design team and Product Managers to conceptualize and implement effective educational solutions. This includes ensuring that the content aligns with the intended learning outcomes and meets the needs of the target audience.

     

    This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. This is a Project Status Worker (PSW) role with an end date of 03/31/2026.

    What you will be doing:

    + Planning and developing content, including learning objectives, scope and sequence, tables of contents, lessons, videos, and teacher resources for both print, digital, and media projects.

    + Assisting in the creation of prototypes, exemplars, guidelines, project proposals, and project scope documentation as needed.

    + Acting as the point of contact between vendors, internal engineering teams, and Academic Design teams.

    + Demonstrating a strong understanding of elementary (Grades 3–5) Reading/Language Arts and English Language development.

    + Addressing pedagogical issues and ensuring alignment with best practices.

    + Producing accurate, high-quality, error-free products that meet curriculum standards (including CCSS and other state standards), project scope, and market requirements, while maintaining appropriate content, reading level, grammar, and style.

    + Providing constructive feedback to colleagues and vendors to ensure quality outcomes.

    + Solving problems by identifying risks related to assignments and proposing solutions, including suggestions for process improvements.

    + Staying informed about emerging educational and curriculum trends, educational technology, and literacy research.

    We’re looking for someone with:

    + A bachelor’s degree, preferably in elementary education, literacy, linguistics, or a related field.

    + At least two years of editorial experience in educational publishing; strong content editing skills and familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style.

    + Teaching experience and literacy curriculum development with a focus on Grades 3–5 preferred.

    + Strong organizational skills, goal-oriented mindset, and a collaborative approach to work.

    + Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, quality, and on-time delivery.

    + Knowledge of industry standards, subject-area content development practices, and curriculum standards (such as CCSS, B.E.S.T., and TEKS), as well as familiarity with academic and pedagogical trends.

    + Subject matter expertise in foundational literacy skills, including text decodability (preferred).

    + Initiative, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including mastery of English grammar, spelling, and writing, with a strong attention to detail.

    + Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to changing needs.

    + Understanding of digital learning tools, including authoring systems, accessibility requirements, and testing processes.

    + Proficiency in diverse computer skills, including expert-level knowledge of the MS Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet, and K4/InCopy markup.

    + Experience building accessible content in digital authoring systems.

    The pay range for this position is between $54,600 – $70,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
