Description:
Under general supervision, performs clerical duties relating to the operating room functions such as computer data entry and generating reports. Interacts with physicians, residents and office staff to schedule operating procedures. Collaborates with other departments to best utilize resources, while accommodating physician preferences and patient needs.
A partial listing of additional duties include:
Interviewing physicians, residents, PA's or office staff to obtain information to appropriately schedule patients for procedures.
Interprets information collected to determine and create comprehensive patient and visit specific medical records.
Tracks the process flow from an order being received to the patient being scheduled.
Responsible for scheduling patients for anesthesia appointments.
Responds to problems and questions from Medical Records and Clinical Departments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
+ High School Diploma or equivalent
+ 1 year of training in clerical skills or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ 2+ years of progressively more responsible related work experience in a clerical capacity in a healthcare environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITY
+ Interpersonal communication skills necessary for maintaining good rapport
+ Ability to perform well in fast-paced, stressful situations performing more than one complex task at a time with speed and accuracy
+ Organizational skills necessary to keep accurate records, knowledge of medical terminology, secretarial and receptionist skills including typing graphs, charts, schedules, meeting minute taking, operating office machines, data processing knowledge and mathematical aptitude
