Description
Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: Develop and provide leadership for the implementation of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for students with disabilities in accordance with Federal Law and New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations.
Principle Assigned Responsibilities:
+ Serve as the Chairperson of the CSE.
+ Coordinate CSE activities and IEP development with day services students.
+ Schedule and chair all initial, annual review and re-evaluations CSE Meetings.
+ Schedule Educational Planning Meetings as necessary to examine student needs/recommendation for initial or further CSE evaluation/action .
+ Ensure the appropriate development of all IEP's within regulatory guidelines.
+ Maintain tracking of BIP, time out and restraint interventions.
+ Coordinate the provision of necessary evaluations for CSE consideration.
+ In conjunction with the Assistant Principal provide leadership and structure for the accommodations of the NYS 3-8 testing, assessment and NYS Regents.
+ Coordinate educational discharge planning for residential student and maintain regular communication with the next district of enrollment.
+ Maintain knowledge on changes to NYSED regulations and legal requirements governing the CSE process and special education.
+ Coordinate all 504 plans and ensure the implementation of all accommodation plans.
+ Using Cleartrack, maintain student evaluation and re-evaluation lists for all students.
+ Work with CSE secretary to ensure that all letters, documentation and reports are accurate, timely and securely maintained.
+ Work with secretary and Principal to ensure completion and compliance with NYSED reporting requirements. (i.e. STAC Forms, BOCES, RIC).
+ Document receipt of necessary consents.
+ Maintain records within Cleartrack management system.
+ Serve on committees as requested by supervisor.
+ Attend outside trainings and monthly CSE Chairperson meetings to continue to grow as a professional.
+ Take a leadership role in providing/obtaining staff development for Teachers and Teaching Assistants pertaining to Special Education, the CSE process, IEP development and implementation to meet the needs of the Tilton School and Students with Disabilities as well as meet NYSED requirements.
+ Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education and Experience requirements:
+ Master’s degree in special education or related field.
+ Current NYS Certification as a Special Educational Teacher, School Psychologist or related field.
+ Three years working in a special educational setting is preferred.
