Position Summary

The instructor – Rotating Equipment Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality technical training focused on centrifugal pumps and associated rotating equipment used in industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemical, LNG, Pharmaceutical, and Pulp & Paper. This role supports the Learning & Development department by equipping technicians, engineers, and end-users with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and maintenance of rotating equipment systems. The position bridges practical field experience with instructional delivery, contributing to workforce development and operational excellence through engaging, hands-on, and standards-based training programs.

Essential Responsibilities

Training Reach and Audience Size:

Responsible for delivering technical training to a global audience of up to 500+ learners annually, including technicians, engineers, and maintenance professionals across multiple industries.

Project and Program Scale:

Supports the execution of multiple concurrent training programs, each ranging from 1-day workshops to multi-week certification courses. Programs may be delivered on-site at client facilities or virtually, depending on client needs.

Operational Impact:

Directly contributes to improved equipment reliability, reduced downtime, and enhanced safety by elevating workforce competency in rotating equipment systems. Training outcomes influence maintenance strategies and operational performance across client organizations.

Budget and Resource Responsibility:

While not directly responsible for budget ownership, the role contributes to cost-effective training delivery by maintaining equipment, optimizing training schedules, and supporting resource planning. May influence decisions on training tools, simulators, and instructional technologies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Works closely with internal teams includingEngineering, Field Services, and Learning &Development to ensure training content reflects current technologies and field practices. May also coordinate with external vendors or subject matter experts for specialized content.

Geographic Scope:

Training delivery may span North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions, with up to 50% travel required for on-site instruction at customer locations or regional training centers.

+ Deliver in-person and virtual training sessions on pump systems and rotating equipment

+ Develop, update, and maintain technical training materials and hands-on exercises

+ Conduct trainee assessments and provide performance feedback

+ Collaborate with engineering and service teams to align training with current practices

+ Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Learning & Development department

+ Participate in internal knowledge sharing and mentoring activities

+ Maintain and prepare training equipment, simulators, and classroom environments

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working with rotating equipment, particularly centrifugal pumps.

Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent work experience may be considered.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of pump types, hydraulics, system design, and rotating equipment fundamentals.

Proficiency in mechanical seals, shaft alignment, and vibration analysis.

Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ANSI, and ISO.

Instructional Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to deliver technical content in an engaging and understandable manner to diverse audiences.

Experience developing or delivering training programs, either in-person or virtually.

Tools and Technology:

Comfortable using training tools such as simulators, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and digital presentation platforms.

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or other instructional software.

Other Requirements:

Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time for on-site training delivery.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Equal Pay Act Range

Annual Salary Range $90,600 to $135,400 Plus Benefits and Incentive Plans.
