    Position Summary This supervisory position within the Materials Management Department operates under the consult and direction of the Director of Materials Management. The Materials Manager will serve as the organization#s Value Analysis (VA) Specialist, in accordance with VA policy, providing leadership in the implementation of value analysis policies, methodologies, techniques, and processes. The Materials Manager is responsible for reviewing and approving purchase orders within the limits of established budgets and purchasing policies and procedures. This role also provides oversight and direction in formulating and recommending hospital purchasing policies and in administering established supply chain programs. These programs include purchasing, inventory management, storeroom operations, receiving, distribution, and surplus disposal. Serving as the primary point of contact for department directors, managers, and team leads across the organization, the Materials Manager must demonstrate emotional intelligence and deliver high-level customer service to both clinical and operational teams. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the healthcare purchasing landscape, including effective use of Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), pricing benchmarks, strong vendor partnerships, and procurement information systems. Performance is evaluated through regular conferences and review of reports to determine effectiveness in meeting established goals and objectives. # Duties:# 1. Povide high-level customer service to clinical and operational teams while driving GPO compliance, supporting high-quality outcomes, and meeting cost containment objectives. Serve as the Clinical Value Analysis Specialist in accordance with VA Policy. 2. Leverage materials management technology solutions currently in place to drive efficiencies and ensure proper integration with related systems such as OmniCell, Meditech, and the Charge Master. Technologies include materials management (M/M) information systems, point-of-use systems, and e-commerce platforms. 3.Lead, train, and coach teams within the Materials Management department, fostering collaboration, effective communication, operational effectiveness, and strong inventory control practices. 4. Review and approve all inventory write-offs and adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance with policy. 5. Identify gaps and variability in sourcing, purchasing, logistics, distribution, and inventory management processes. Recommend and support process redesign initiatives to improve service delivery and reduce costs. 6. Foster and leverage strong vendor relationships to ensure high service levels, resolve issues quickly, enhance product value, and support long-term strategic sourcing goals aligned with organizational needs. 7. Oversee the credit card log and ensure compliance with the organization#s Credit Card Policy, including timely reconciliation and accurate documentation of all credit card transactions. Qualifications Experience and Training: #Some experience in large scale institutional purchasing and distribution activities. #Graduation from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. # ## # # # Job Knowledge: #Considerable knowledge of current large scale purchasing policies, procedures, laws, methods, and practices. #Considerable knowledge of various types, grades, and qualities of a wide variety of hospital equipment, apparatus, supplies, and materials. #General knowledge of supply sources and their operational procedures and capabilities. #General knowledge of accounting principles and practices applicable to the purchasing and supply distribution operations. #Ability to supervise and use current personnel administration techniques and methods. #Ability to formulate policy and interpret it into operational practice. #Ability to research and evaluate descriptive literature on a wide variety of products. #Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital department managers, vendor representatives and hospital employees. #Considerable knowledge of inventory control practices. #General knowledge of computerized inventory control systems. #
