Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk for our client in Covington, LA. This short-term contract to full time position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic work environment while advancing your career in accounting. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting accounts payable and receivable processes, maintaining financial records, and assisting with various administrative and reconciliation tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Process accounts payable tasks such as filing vendor invoices, matching A/P invoices to purchase orders, and organizing disbursement records.

• Manage accounts receivable functions including credit invoice processing, applying cash receipts, and assisting with collections of overdue balances.

• Provide general accounting support by reconciling general ledger accounts, assisting with month-end closings, and contributing to special projects.

• Review and correct transaction documents, ensuring accuracy and revising associated entries when necessary.

• Classify expenditures and accounting codes accurately for document processing.

• Prepare financial statements and reports by gathering and analyzing data from various sources.

• Enter financial information into journals, ledgers, and registers using manual or electronic methods.

• Investigate and reconcile discrepancies by reviewing potential causes, reconstructing processes, and preparing correction documents.

• Monitor budgets and assist with adjustments or transfers to ensure budgetary compliance.

• Participate in additional assigned projects and other related duties as needed.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.

• Proficiency in data entry with a strong attention to detail.

• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential; familiarity with additional accounting software is a plus.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Entry-level candidates are welcome; previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting is advantageous.

• Strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy in financial documentation.

• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and vendors.

• Familiarity with invoice processing, purchase orders, and collections is beneficial.
