    Description

    We are looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to oversee financial operations and ensure compliance with federal funding guidelines. This Contract-to-Permanent position is ideal for a candidate with expertise in fund accounting operations and strong leadership skills. The role is based in Opelika, Alabama, and requires a highly detail-oriented individual committed to excellence in financial management.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage the month-end close process to ensure financial records are accurate and timely.

    • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

    • Lead financial reporting efforts, including audits and performance reviews.

    • Implement and maintain accounting procedures, including the use of tools like Blackline for reconciliation.

    • Ensure compliance with federal funding requirements related to housing authority operations.

    • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies.

    • Supervise and mentor accounting staff to foster a high-performing team.

    • Coordinate external audits and address any findings effectively.

    • Monitor and improve internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and data integrity.

    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.

    Requirements

    • CPA certification is preferred.

    • Proven experience in managing month-end close processes and financial reporting.

    • Proficiency with Blackline or similar financial reconciliation tools.

    • Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and regulatory compliance.

    • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.

    • Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
