Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Diego, California. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a range of accounting functions, including reconciliations, audits, and process improvements, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Ideal candidates will bring expertise in managing complex accounting tasks and thrive in a dynamic, project-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis, supporting accurate month-end processing and reporting.

• Prepare, analyze, and review complex journal entries to maintain and update financial records in coordination with the Accounting Manager.

• Assist with asset management processes, including invoicing, reconciliation, tagging, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Oversee expense reimbursement reconciliation, verifying proper coding, reviewing submissions, and addressing employee inquiries.

• Provide payroll support, including preparation and reconciliation, as a backup when needed.

• Contribute to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities, offering support on an as-needed basis.

• Ensure compliance with tax regulations by assisting with sales and use tax preparation and reporting.

• Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.

• Participate in or lead financial audits, collaborating with finance and accounting teams to ensure thorough and timely completion.

• Act as a deputy for the Accounting Manager during their absence to maintain seamless departmental operations. Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.

• At least 7 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, such as Accountant or Assistant Controller.

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting systems; SAP experience is highly preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite tools, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.

• Demonstrated expertise in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and account reconciliations.

• Proven ability to manage fixed assets, prepaids, and tax-related tasks, including sales and use tax.

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to address complex financial challenges.

• Strong organizational and communication abilities, including interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams.
