Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in South Boston, Virginia. This is a long-term contract position designed for individuals who excel at managing financial transactions and vendor relationships with accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely payments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting overall financial operations.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of billing inquiries.

• Process invoices and payments with attention to accuracy and compliance with organizational procedures.

• Review purchase orders, pricing, and payment terms to ensure consistency with received invoices.

• Verify and reconcile monthly credit card statements and expense reports for accuracy.

• Maintain detailed records of transactions, including account entries and monthly reconciliations.

• Prepare and manage outgoing electronic payments, ensuring proper authorization and documentation.

• Evaluate vendor agreements to identify opportunities for cost savings or discounts.

• Assist with tracking and reporting sales and use tax payments.

• Generate reports for management to support budgeting and financial planning.

• Participate in audits and year-end financial filings to ensure compliance and accuracy. Requirements • Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.

• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounts payable processes.

• Proven ability to accurately calculate, post, and manage financial data.

• Excellent data entry skills with a keen eye for detail and precision.

• Proficiency in using accounting software systems and Office applications, particularly spreadsheets.

• Highly organized and capable of thriving in a fast-paced work environment.

• Associate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with vendors and team members.
