    The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts; and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by Chief Administrative Officer Justin P. Forkner, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.

     

    Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

    About the Job:

    A Youth Justice Strategist supports counties in system improvement to achieve state-level results at all points of involvement, from prevention through reintegration. Indiana’s model for system improvement is the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI). A Strategist must have sufficient knowledge of the youth justice system, best-practices, research-based interventions, and use of data for performance monitoring to effectively facilitate discussions and guide stakeholders on policy and practice review and reform. A Strategist works independently and directly with counties, as well as with a team on recurring activities and time-limited projects. Planning, implementing, and monitoring system improvement efforts is iterative and evolving, requiring flexibility and adaptive responses.

    A Day in the Life:

    • Assist counties with local system-level review, analysis, planning, and implementation to support local youth justice improvement efforts

    • Provide technical assistance and serve as a resource to counties in planning and implementing strategies for youth justice system improvement, including legislative requirements, policy, evidence-based practices, Supreme Court initiatives, and intersections with problem solving courts and the child welfare system

    • Assist with state-level data collection policy and analysis to identify focus areas and monitor changes in local youth justice system reform work, including strategies to promote equity

    • Provide technical assistance to counties regarding youth justice system data collection, analysis, reporting, and use of data

    • Prepare reports, documents, data visualizations, and other presentations to guide counties in youth justice system improvement efforts

    • Utilize a range of software/applications to visualize and analyze data for presentation and to promote strong data quality

    • Provide support and guidance related to Department of Correction grant applications and grant management, including meeting developmental milestones and performance measures

    • Provide staff support to Judicial Conference Committees and state-level groups and committees related to youth-focused initiatives

    • Assist in planning and execution of in-person and virtual training and conferences

    • Conduct presentations as requested

    • Perform additional duties as assigned

    • Communicating effectively and respectfully with team members, supervisors, and staff in other divisions of the Office of Judicial Administration

    • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience

    • Independently assess, synthesize, and analyze information from a variety of sources to inform activities

    Technology and Tool Usage

    • Learn and adapt to new technologies within the Microsoft Suite as well as Supreme Court systems
