    General Summary:

    Astronics Test Systems is seeking a skilled and dynamic Hardware Engineering Manager to lead both the mechanical and electrical engineering teams. The successful candidate will oversee the design, development, and integration of state-of-the-art hardware solutions for mission-critical test systems. This role requires exceptional leadership, organizational abilities, and the capability to foster a collaborative and innovative environment across both engineering disciplines.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    + **Strategic Leadership:** Provide strategic direction to the mechanical and electrical engineering teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer requirements. Lead high-impact projects from concept to completion.

    + **Team Development and Mentoring:** Develop a cohesive and motivated team through mentoring, training, and career progression strategies. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

    + **Innovative Design and Development:** Oversee the design and development of advanced electromechanical systems, ensuring cutting-edge solutions that meet diverse customer needs.

    + **Cross-functional Collaboration:** Work closely with various departments to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions into the overall business strategy. Manage global, remote teams effectively.

    + **Resource and Project Management:** Efficiently manage resources including personnel, budgets, and timelines to ensure timely and cost-effective project deliveries.

    + **Technical Expertise:** Act as a subject matter expert in mechanical and electrical design, integration, and performance verification. Guide the teams in developing robust and reliable hardware solutions.

    + **Product Development:** Lead the end-to-end process of capturing requirements, designing, validating, testing, documenting, and transitioning hardware products to manufacturing.

    + **Compliance and Standards:** Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry standards such as ASME, ISO, and EMC requirements. Promote adherence to best practices in design and manufacturing processes.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Must be a US person.

    + **Leadership:** Proven leadership experience in engineering management, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performance teams.

    + **Technical Skills – Mechanical:**

    + Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, and 3D scanning tools.

    + Knowledge of electromechanical system design and additive manufacturing technologies.

    + **Technical Skills – Electrical:**

    + Expertise in analog and high-speed digital circuit design, including PCB layout.

    + Experience with simulation tools (LTSpice, HyperLynx), and high-speed bus interfaces (USB 3.x, PCIe, Ethernet).

    + **Project Management:** Strong organizational and project management skills with capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Use of Jira is required.

    + **Communication:** Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

    Education/Experience:

    + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is required; a Master's Degree (MSME/MSEE/MBA/MEM) is preferred.

    + 5+ years of combined experience in mechanical and electrical hardware design.

    + 5+ years of experience in engineering management, leading multidisciplinary teams.

    Computer Skills:

    + Proficient in project management tools such as Jira SW and Microsoft Project.

    + Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Altium Designer.

    + Experience with simulation tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, LTSpice, HyperLynx.
