    Job Title: Phlebotomist I - Mobile 3rd Shift (Immediate Hiring)

    Job Description

    The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position requires a professional who is adept at handling blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens according to established procedures.

    + Collect and store specimens following protocol, ensuring proper explanation of the venipuncture process in a courteous manner.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles while fully understanding physicians' orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

    + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.

    + Package specimens for transport and store sample specimens according to required temperatures.

    + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.

    + Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Proven skills in phlebotomy, blood draw, and venipuncture.

    + Experience with specimen processing and customer service.

    + 1+ year of recent phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting.

    + Capability of working with geriatric and hard stick patients.

    + Excellent customer service skills.

    + Phlebotomy certification and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required.

    + Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

    + High School Diploma or GED with 0-2 years of experience.

    Work Environment

    This role is based in a hospital environment located at 5 Mobile Infirmary Circle, Mobile, AL. The position is for the 3rd shift, Monday to Friday, with rotating weekends, requiring extensive walking to patient rooms. The role involves working as a team with approximately 50 draws per night. Initial training will be conducted during the 1st shift for about 1½ to 2 weeks, after which the candidate will transition to the 3rd shift.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr.
