    The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and recommending improvements for workflow. This position requires an individual who is skilled in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws and collect specimens according to established procedures.

    + Explain the venipuncture process or other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

    + Understand and follow all physicians' orders accurately.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

    + Ensure 100% accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.

    + Package specimens for transport, maintaining required temperature and integrity.

    + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department trainings.

    + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood draws with over 2 years of experience.

    + Experience in working with patients of all ages.

    + Strong customer service skills.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Medical knowledge and experience.

    Work Environment

    The position is within an IOP located inside a Walgreens. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM, with rotating Saturdays from 8 AM to 12 PM. The work environment is dynamic and requires adherence to various protocols to maintain specimen integrity.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
