    Job Title: Production Technician

    Job Description

    Join our team as a Production Technician and be an integral part of the crop processing, storage, and distribution activities throughout the year. You will operate equipment and machinery, handle inventory, and ensure that our seeds are processed efficiently and safely.

    Responsibilities

    + Receive and process trucks hauling crops for weighing and unloading.

    + Complete various harvest activities, including husk and sort operations.

    + Operate dryers to dry crops within prescribed safety, quality, and financial requirements.

    + Shell and store crops from bins in the dryer facility.

    + Supply the Conditioning department with a constant supply of seed.

    + Apply appropriate treatment to seed.

    + Label, tag, bag, and palletize seed.

    + Enter inventory information into the computer.

    + Stage seed for shipment in the warehouse.

    + Retag in-house seed and re-bag backhaul (returned) seed.

    + Inspect and wash pro boxes to ensure they are free of debris and clean.

    + Perform various tasks at the site, both indoors and outdoors, from May to August.

    + Transition to warehousing and packaging roles starting in August.

    Essential Skills

    + Ability to lift 50-60 lbs.

    + Comfortable with repetitive tasks and sitting or standing for long periods.

    + Ability to climb stairs and differentiate/see colors.

    + Proficiency in speaking and reading English.

    + Forklift experience preferred.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Steel-toed shoes required.

    + Must not be colorblind.

    + No formal education required.

    + Smoking and tobacco products are strictly prohibited on-site.

    Work Environment

     

    As a production technician in an agricultural setting, expect to work around corn and insecticide dust. The environment may seem dusty, but it's simply part of the process to protect seeds. Be prepared for 12-hour shifts, standing for long periods, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting up to 60 lbs. The work schedule includes two teams working 12-hour days, with rotations including weekend days. Shifts will transition to a 24/7 schedule in October, with four teams rotating every two weeks.

    This is a Contract position based out of Switz City, Indiana.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $22.50/hr.
