Job Title: Chemical Production Technician

Job Description

As a Chemical Production Technician, you will be responsible for processing raw materials and chemicals by adhering to detailed batch records. Your tasks will include mixing the correct chemicals to create the final product, utilizing various machines to measure the amount of raw material to be added into the tank, and taking samples for laboratory quality testing. You will operate a crane to lift large bags of chemicals and ensure accurate documentation by signing off on the correct type and amount of materials used. This role requires physical strength, as you will need to push material out of bags using mixing devices and climb stairs to access the top of tanks. Additionally, you will use computer skills to monitor and control tank levels, and be open to performing other work-related duties as assigned. Due to chemical exposure, you will wear a full uniform and respirator mask.

Responsibilities

+ Process raw materials and chemicals following batch records.

+ Mix correct chemicals to create final products.

+ Utilize machines to measure raw materials.

+ Take samples for laboratory quality testing.

+ Operate a crane to lift large chemical bags.

+ Sign off on documentation for material accuracy.

+ Push materials using mixing devices.

+ Climb stairs to access tanks.

+ Monitor and control tank levels using computer systems.

+ Perform other assigned work-related duties.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in machine operation, utility technician, or production technician roles.

+ Proficiency in reading batch records and recipes.

+ Ability to check balances and measure chemicals accurately.

+ Strong physical strength and endurance.

+ Attention to detail and reporting skills.

+ Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 2-4 years of manufacturing experience preferred.

+ Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

+ High School Diploma or GED.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site position in a manufacturing facility located in Des Moines, Iowa. You will work the 2nd shift from Monday to Friday, starting between 2pm to 4pm for 8-hour or 10-hour shifts. The work environment includes exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and biological hazards. Dress code requires wearing uniforms, steel-toed boots, and hair nets, and you will be asked to shower after your shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.75/hr.
