The Senior Associate will support complex valuation engagements across the alternative credit spectrum, with a primary focus on illiquid private credit investments and whole loan portfolios, including residential mortgages, consumer and auto loans, and small business lending. The role will also include secondary support for structured products such as CLOs, RMBS, and ABS.
The ideal candidate will bring strong credit analysis skills, experience working with loan-level data and deal structures, and an understanding of valuation methodologies for illiquid credit. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, high-performing team delivering ASC 820-compliant valuation services for asset managers, private funds, insurers, and other institutional investors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Perform independent valuation of alternative credit investments, including private loans (senior, Unitranche, mezzanine, second lien) and non-bank lending exposures across real estate, corporate, and specialty finance sectors.
+ Support the valuation of whole loan portfolios (residential mortgage loans, auto loans, credit card receivables, unsecured consumer loans, and small business loans), including analysis of loan tapes, credit attributes, prepayment/default assumptions, and performance trends.
+ Assist in the valuation of for structured finance instruments such as CLOs, ABS, RMBS, and CMBS by analyzing market pricing data and cash flows using platforms like Bloomberg, INTEXCalc, Eikon and other industry-standard platforms.
+ Develop and maintain valuation models using the income approach, market yield calibration, and mark-to-model techniques, consistent with ASC 820 and industry best practices.
+ Review borrower financials, loan agreements, and collateral terms to assess credit quality and inform key valuation assumptions.
+ Prepare clear, audit-ready documentation and valuation memos supporting conclusions with both quantitative analysis and qualitative context.
+ Collaborate with valuation managers and directors to deliver high-quality work that meets client deadlines and audit standards.
+ Utilize platforms such as Bloomberg, Pitchbook, Capital IQ, Eikon, Solve Advisors, and Finsight for pricing support, market comps, and research.
+ Present findings to clients and internal stakeholders in a clear and confident manner.
+ Support continuous improvement of valuation processes, internal methodologies, and documentation standards.
+ Mentor junior staff by providing training, technical guidance, and review support.
+ Participate in business development initiatives including proposal writing, market research, and thought leadership.
+ Meet utilization targets and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives.
+ Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Engineering, Information Technology, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
+ 2–4 years of experience in valuation, credit analysis, or related financial services role, with a focus on private credit, whole loans, or structured finance.
+ Strong understanding of valuation methodologies for illiquid credit, including discounted cash flow, market yield calibration, and scenario/stress analysis.
+ Familiarity with valuation of structured products such as ABS, CLOs, RMBS, and CMBS, is a plus.
+ Experience using valuation platforms such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, INTEXCalc, Eikon, Solve Advisors, Yield Book, or similar platforms.
+ Working knowledge of ASC 820, US GAAP, and fair value reporting requirements.
+ Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Python or VBA is a plus.
+ Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple engagements in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
+ Travel: less than 10%
The base salary range for this position in New York City only is between $103,700 and $155,500.
