    BAE Systems is seeking an entry level Engineering Technologist - Weld to support our 2nd Shift Weld Operations by applying general knowledge of training curriculum for welding processes as well as supporting continuous improvement efforts on existing methods and equipment. This exciting entry level opportunity offers the ability to learn and implement cutting edge welding technology, thereby making a real difference in the success of BAE Systems. You will be working under general supervision contributing to the completion of organizational projects and goals.

     

    In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business onsite at our Aiken, SC facility.

    As an Engineering Technologist I, you will:

    + Working under general supervision, you will have the opportunity to support professional technical work that involves knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing concepts, techniques and practices.

    + Support a team by conducting ongoing audits to ensure compliance with our standards.

    + Investigate and implement new technology to improve process quality and effectiveness.

    + Monitor weld equipment and facilitate improvements, repairs and replacement activities.

    + Provide effective, timely production engineering support to address technical issues.

    + Maintain materials and work area used for weld school and welder qualification testing.

    + Support testing / qualification activities and records.

    + Support continuous improvement opportunities to positively impact Quality and Cost metrics.

    + Support the world class safety performance and culture at BAE systems by actively seeking to improve workplace safety and ergonomics.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Associate s degree (e.g., Manufacturing Technology, Weld Engineering, Applied Technology, Welding Degree, etc.), and two (2) year s experience; or a relevant Weld Certification, High School Diploma and 4 year s experience; or a relevant bachelor s degree with no experience.

    + Must be able to work a 2nd shift Monday through Thursday (3:15PM 1:45AM)

    + Hands on welding and terminology experience with one or more of the following processes: Gas-Metal-Arc Welding (GMAW), GMAW-Pulse, Gas-Tungsten-Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded-Metal-Arc Welding (SMAW)

    + Ability to work effectively in a team environment

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    + Demonstrated ability to support under general supervision maintaining training materials and supporting relevant training.

    + Computer literacy to include MS Office applications including Word and Excel

    + Demonstrated ability to promote world class safety performance through relevant project work and participation in safety audit programs

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Experience in DOD / Defense weld manufacturing environment.

    + Experience with supporting welder testing, training and performing audits

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $57866 - $98372

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
