Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Test Engineering Division (Code 246),Office of the Chief Engineer (Code 240), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will manage and execute the non-nuclear test and work control program during NNSY Ship availabilities. You will direct and/or coordinate multiple trade and shipyard codes to ensure that all ship and support systems and capable of meeting the technical requirements. You will identify all non-nuclear work and testing technically required to be completed for key events. You will direct the mapping of CU Phases, work authorization forms, re-entry control documents, inspection/deficiency reports, test procedures, etc. You will monitor shipboard testing in progress and take action to assure that testing is conducted in accordance with approved technical and safety requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing knowledge of emergency preparedness and participation in emergency response to support emergency preparedness as responders, role players, or exercise controllers to provide opportunities to be engaged in this vital capability for the shipyard. Experience reviewing work products and assuring subordinate employees perform quality work with time constraints. Experience demonstrating knowledge with non-nuclear engineering systems for submarines, aircraft carriers and other conventional surface ships. Experience with technical manuals, directives, and reports pertaining to all non-nuclear processes associated with maintenance, overhaul, modification, and testing of nuclear and non-nuclear submarines and surface ships. Experience with shipboard systems, work control requirements, system testing, shipboard safety and SUBSAFE re-entry control. Experience with recognizing difficulties and determining a course of action to resolve highly complex issues regarding project strategic problems.
