    Description and Requirements

     

    We are hiring a Fall 2025 Intern to join our team as a Customer Quality Engineer. This position offers a broad range of lab-based experience inside ThinkPad and Visuals/Accessories Product Engineering. This is a hands-on position that will expand your understanding of PC hardware, subsystems, accessories/options/monitors, and the Windows OS & drivers. In addition, you will be working with a global team of technology experts within one of the world's leading technology firms. This position is located as our Corporate office in Morrisville, NC and requires you work full-time (5 days a week) in our LAB. Relocation is not provided for this position.

    Detailed Responsibilities:

    + Evaluating emerging technology from both a business, technical, and user perspective

    + Collaborate with Product Engineers locally and globally on problem reproduction and debug

    + Functional testing on various laptops, accessories, docks, and other portable devices

    + Documenting test results and findings based on the analysis performed in the lab

    + Assisting engineers with typical laboratory work tasks, including break/fix, asset management, measurements (voltage, thermal, acoustic, etc), shipping, etc

    + Some customer fieldwork with the engineers may be a possibility

    Position Requirements:

    + Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

    + Hobbyist or professional experience with PC assembly/repair preferred

    + Self-motivated

    + Excellent communication and organizational skills

    + Willingness to learn and ask questions

    + Quickly switching focus between tasks as needed and adjusting to changing priorities

    + Ability to work onsite at the Morrisville, NC location

    Technical Requirements:

    Required:

    + Basic understanding of PC hardware architecture (CPU, memory, storage, peripherals).

    + Ability to work in a lab environment and handle hardware safely and effectively.

    + Familiarity with Windows OS installation, configuration, and driver management.

    Preferred:

    + Exposure to device drivers and their role in hardware functionality.

    + Experience with external device connectivity (USB, HDMI, docking stations).

    + Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++, PowerShell).

    + Understanding of basic electronics and signal flow.
