    Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

     

    + Knowledge of standard safety skills practices related to various general labor work assignments and motorized equipment that requires operation.

    + Ability to communicate verbally and receive instructions that may require duties to be completed individually or as part of a team.

    + Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs alone.

    + Ability to perform strenuous physical duties outdoors in various weather conditions, including walking long distances.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Knowledge of PPE .

    Job Description

    The Grounds Maintenance Worker II will be responsible for providing attractive, safe, and well-maintained grounds on the Texas State University campus.

    Job Duties

    + Police litter.

    + Maintain trash barrels.

    + Prepare, install, and maintain landscape beds on campus.

    + Weed landscape beds.

    + Maintain shrub and ground cover beds.

    + Mow, trim, and edge turf areas.

    + Rake, blow, and sweep grass clippings.

    + Clear pedestrian walkways of leaves, litter, debris, blow, clean chalk graffiti.

    + Special Event preparations.

    + Assist tree crew as needed.

    + Pick up landscaping material orders from off campus vendors.

    + Remove safety and pedestrian hazards after extreme weather events.

    + Operate, maintain, and PM both manual and power equipment.

    + Use a computer and work phone to monitor and address AIM work orders and SAP entries.

    + Report problems and safety issues to Supervisor.

    + Attend regular training.

    + Other duties as assigned.
