Position Description
St. Augustine Preparatory Academy (Aug Prep) is seeking a passionate, Christ-centered individual to serve as the Varsity Baseball Head Coach. This individual will play a critical role in helping student-athletes grow in character, skill, and faith through the sport of swimming. The coach will be responsible for building a competitive program that reflects the mission and values of AugPrep—raising young people who demonstrate integrity, perseverance, courage, and respect on and off the field.
The Varsity Baseball Head Coach will be committed to the excellence of Augustine Prep’s academic program and the mission of the school. Maintaining and fostering trusted relationships with families, staff, and outside groups will be critical for this role. Further, the Girls Varsity Swim Coach should seek to develop and maintain positive relationships with the school community and take advantage of all available community resources to develop a program of which we are all proud.
Job Responsibilities & Functions
Coaching Responsibilities
+ Spiritual Leadership
+ Build a team culture that reflects Christ-centered values and AugPrep’s mission to instill Hope by equipping students to glorify God.
+ Lead with humility, encouragement, and integrity, modeling servant leadership.
+ Athletic Development
+ Plan and implement a comprehensive in-season training program focused on stroke technique, conditioning, race strategy, and mental toughness.
+ Teach fundamental and advanced swimming skills with attention to individual athlete development.
+ Coordinate with strength and conditioning staff, as needed, to support athlete development.
+ Team and Program Management
+ Create a year-round vision for the program, including off-season training, team building, and culture-setting opportunities.
+ Lead practices, manage meets, and supervise athletes during all team activities.
+ Communicate effectively with parents, student-athletes, faculty, and administration.
+ Ensure proper care and inventory of swim equipment and uniforms.
+ Compliance and Supervision
+ Ensure all athletes meet academic, behavioral, and eligibility requirements.
+ Maintain compliance with all WIAA, conference, and school athletic policies.
+ Collaborate with the Athletic Department to manage schedules, transportation, and facilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ A deep belief in our mission to provide an exceptional, safe and holistic K4-12 Christian education developing our students to be tomorrow’s leaders. Alignment with Aug Prep Statement of Faith and North Star.
+ Participating in a local church.
+ Excellent organizational and communication skills
+ Bachelor’s Degree is a plus
+ Current CPR and AED certification
+ 3 or more years of coaching experience is a plus
+ Skilled in strategic planning, project management, and organization development; able to balance a focus on big picture priorities while not losing sight of the annual goals and objectives.
+ Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
+ Lastly and most important, the candidate must demonstrate and possess the highest integrity. and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of Aug Prep
