The role you will contribute:
Knowledgeable of CDC guidelines and definitions of healthcare associated infections, the Joint Commission (TJC) and Colorado State Licensing (CDPHE) standards, and federal and state regulations. Responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of healthcare associated infections among patients and personnel. Responsible for assisting with in-service programs related to infection prevention and regulatory requirements. Works collaboratively with the Infection Prevention Program manager and Quality Team to ensure continuous readiness and compliance with all accrediting body and regulatory agency requirements.

Supports Infection Prevention
+ Develops, implements and annually evaluates the hospitals infection control program to prevent and control the transmission of infections in the patient, employee, visitor and medical staff populations.
+ Leads integration of prevention activities within and across departments.
+ Leads performance improvement teams on local and region level projects with a focus on reliability and sustainability of prevention practices.
+ Develops improvement initiatives focused on reducing HAIs and, enhancing patient safety. Defines the scope of a project to maintain focus and uses process and outcome measures to ensure that interventions are sustained over time.
+ Creates and oversees patient safety and quality initiatives and involves a multidisciplinary team to maximize benefits and minimize barriers for all stakeholders.
+ Prepares accurate tracking and trending of records/reports of epidemiological activities.
+ Monitors and reports communicable diseases to the appropriate agency.
+ Identifies and implements infection prevention and control strategies according to specific topics: hand hygiene; cleaning, disinfection and sterilization; use of isolation/barrier precautions when indicated; patient placement, transfer and discharge; environmental hazards; use of patient care products and medical equipment; patient immunization
Leads Regulatory/Accreditation Compliance Efforts.
+ Maintains knowledge of national, state and local regulatory and accreditation requirements, as it pertains to the Colorado State Statutes, CMS Conditions of Participation (CoP), and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
+ Communicates with and educates associates and medical staff on TJC standards.
+ Acts as the liaison for surveyors during on-site survey activities (preparation, planning, coordinating, etc.)
+ Communicates and facilitates necessary changes in order to remain continuously compliant with accreditation standards.
+ Proactively seeks opportunities/mechanisms aimed at continually improving patient care, processes and compliance.
+ Facilitates the creation of an effective action plan in response to identified issues.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
Required qualifications:
+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or bachelor's degree in health science, public health, healthcare or related field.
+ 3 years health-care experience.
+ Working knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques, and current practices relative to infection prevention
Preferred qualifications:
+ Master's Degree
+ Experience in infection prevention preferred and healthcare accreditation
