    The role you'll contribute:

    The Chaplain provides spiritual care to patients, family and staff by assessing and supporting their spiritual needs. Chaplain at AdventHealth Central Texas work as part of the interdisciplinary team to extend the healing ministry of Christ. They are expected to embrace our Service Standards at all times and to exhibit a continuous behavior of professionalism, which include but is not limited to treating customers and co-workers with respect and dignity, aligning behavior with customer service principles, maintaining customer and patient confidentiality, abiding by employee guidelines for professional behavior, appearance, and communication, exhibiting teamwork behaviors, being effective in conflict resolution, helping others to understand issues and accept changes, demonstrating high standards of work performance and flexibility, maintaining positive interdepartmental relationships, keeping a positive attitude, and adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization.

    The value you'll bring to the team:

    + Provides spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families and staff as designated by the Director of Pastoral Care Department.

    + Provides Night on Call (NOC) and Weekend on Call (WOC) coverage as required.

    + Provides Sunday service at Behavioral Health as needed.

    + Flexibility in scheduling of hours. May be required to work weekends and holidays.

    + Responds to all emergency codes (e.g., Code Blue, Code Green) promptly.

    + Responds to requests for services within twenty-four hours.

    + Conducts pre-surgical visits as scheduled by the director.

    + Follow up visit to surgical patients must be done within twenty-four hours after surgery.

    + Assist the staff chaplains on conducting support groups for clinical staff when required.

    + Maintains open communication with the interdisciplinary team and cultivates professional relationships with all staff members in the hospital.

    + Provides devotional services throughout the hospital on needed basis.

    + Leads the Chapel Service when required.

    + Maintains cooperative working relationships with local clergy and when requested by the patient, the Chaplain PRN may inform the patients clergy of the patients request for pastoral visit.

    + Assist the staff chaplains in their efforts to educate patients, family, staff, and local community through seminars, in-service sessions, support groups, and individual pastoral counselling.

    + Assist the staff chaplains to plan and execute Critical Incident Stress Debriefing sessions when needed.

    Qualifications

    The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

    + Master's Required

    + One or more years of Work Experience Preferred

    + A Chaplain at AdventHealth Central Texas Clinical should be able operate within the guidelines of the profession, uphold standards of practice and competencies at all times.

    + The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to work in a healthcare environment providing effective spiritual care for patients, families, and staff. Chaplain also provides individual and group pastoral counseling, spiritual care, and emotional support.

    + In addition, Chaplain must have the ability to read, write and follow instructions in English.

    + Good oral communication skills.

    + Excellent customer service skills.

    + Excellent organization and people skills.

    + Maintains continuing education hours as outlined by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE).

    + A Chaplain must have basic knowledge on how to work with computers, including (but not limited) applications like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Internet Explorer; having experience working with Cerner, our Electronic Healthcare Record application, is preferred.

    + This position is primarily light in nature.

    + The maximum amount of lifting is 20% of body weight.

    + The position requires walking, standing and sitting. Must meet the hospital's established health requirements.
