Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Designs, plans, conducts, and evaluates quality-based education, competencies, and training for the organization-wide Quality Institute programs, including but not limited to the UR Medicine (UPP) and Pursuing Excellence Initiative (PEI) programs. Collaborates in planning/implementation with Learning and Development on educational offerings, including the UR Leader Fellowship program and Continuous Improvement Education. Formulates educational plans and training processes. The Educator is responsible for needs assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of several diverse educational programs and initiatives utilizing adult learning principles and evidence-based theory.
The Quality Education Manager is dedicated to developing and implementing an education curriculum that supports onboarding and ongoing competencies for employees. The curriculum is evidence-based and incorporates adult learning principles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Establishes and oversees a progressive education program for UPP, PEI, and other Quality Institute programs, including Continuous improvement principles, leadership development, and teaming.
+ The overall objective of the educational programming is to advance both the development of and outcomes of inter-professional teams working on quality improvement.
+ Designs and delivers a progressive educational program for Quality Improvement to a general audience across the institution.
+ Oversees the coaching of trainees working on quality improvement projects to earn Continuous Improvement certification.
+ Collaborates with a diverse self-directed work team that represents the Quality Institute. Initiates and participates in networking and benchmarking efforts.
+ Functions as a representative of the Hospital in these relations and with other organizations.
+ Designs and implements quality improvement principles, leadership development, and teamwork training for the audiences listed below.
+ Training sessions range from one-hour sessions to two-day retreats, online or in-person.
+ May deliver the training or identify a subject matter expert to do so: PEI Leaders, PEI Alumni, UPP Coaches, UPP Leader, UPP Team members
+ UR Medicine Leader Fellows - Quality Improvement Track
+ Quality/Process Improvement- General Audience
+ Utilizes adult learning principles in a variety of educational modalities, including in-class, online, simulation, and other dynamic resources.
+ Aligns training with Quality Institute objectives and goals.
+ Reviews and analyzes program metrics to determine efficacy.
+ Makes recommendations and implements curriculum improvements to meet program objectives and goals.
+ Establishes or updates existing standards, creating new policies, processes, and procedures as needed.
+ Communicates progress to appropriate managers, team leads and/or supervisors using standardized evaluation tools.
+ Reviews and considers for inclusion additional educational initiatives as they arise from literature, external or internal regulations/policies.
+ Serves as an expert resource on team development, leadership development, DISC, and workplace learning and consults with team leaders as needed.
+ Acts as a change agent to facilitate culture change in the areas of quality improvement, teaming, and leadership development.
+ Fosters overall team development through training.
+ Generates and utilizes data, and conducts data analysis, to determine the effectiveness of quality improvement and program development efforts.
+ Prepares presentations outlining program goals and outcome measures; presents information to stakeholders which may include senior leadership.
+ Participates in team development through comprehensive assessments and shared decision-making processes to support planning, policy adherence, and other management initiatives.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Master’s degree in Education, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Nursing, Education or a related field Required
+ 4 years of training experience Required
+ or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required
+ Healthcare or clinical experience. Preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and show initiative in making suggestions and decisions
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Required
+ Ability to set priorities and manage competing demands. Required
+ Process-oriented and results-driven work strategy
+ Strong presentation skills and the ability to prepare and present materials clearly to all levels of the organization. Required
+ Detail and process improvement oriented Required
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication Required
+ Ability to effectively communicate project status, issues, and information Required
+ Knowledge of Lean, Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, and process improvement tools Preferred
