The Continuing Education Specialist position’s purpose is to coordinate a team of trainers, coaches, and consultants, maintain training and TA infrastructure and provide program development, coaching, and technical assistance and other implementation supports across several initiatives to support the school mental health workforce. This position will serve in a leadership role supporting and reporting to the PI.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **Program Development and Training (50%)
• Coordinate Training and TA team by developing and overseeing infrastructure, systems, processes and structures and serve as training team representatives across multiple departments and units.
• Independently and proactively identify and support trainers, coaches, consultants and other partners to solve problems and remove barriers to effective implementation supports
• Lead content development, delivery, and dissemination of trainings (in-person, live virtual learning sessions and access to online curricula on the broad topics of school mental health, universal school-wide strategies to support student and staff mental health, healing-centered and trauma responsive school based services, multi-tiered systems of supports, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support and Interconnected Systems Framework
• Identify needs of the school mental health workforce and develop and deliver relevant programming
• Lead and facilitate internal and external meetings with funders and other partners using effective teaming routines and structures across various remove teaming platforms as needed (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Google Products, Zoom, etc).
• Serve as a point of contact for data and evaluation colleagues and partners
• Create practice briefs, newsletter entries, resource documents and tool kits to support the SMH workforce
• Lead the participation of state, regional and national network SMH calls and collaborative programming efforts and other partner network workgroups
• Facilitate or co-facilitate state and region-wide Learning Communities for SMH, and participate in the development, promotion of awareness, and leadership of that community through the provision of regional events, trainings and access to online courses and other materials
• Lead professional learning opportunities (presenting, facilitating) as requested by state, regional and district partners
Technical Assistance and Coaching 20%
• Independently develop and provide as needed, on demand, and ongoing support to contract partners and individual inquiries from the SMH workforce, and state, regional, and local educational and behavioral health entities.
• Lead the development and provision of coaching support to state, region, school, and district MTSS/PBIS/ISF teams.
• Oversee and facilitate coaching meetings, state/ESD district, and building team meetings.
Oversight, Coordination and Facilitation of SMH-focused activities 15%
• Oversee, implement & monitor activities and workplans to ensure milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
• Develop, organize delegate tasks and deliver/facilitate SMH-focused training activities.
• Lead the development and maintenance of external partnerships, such as with funders or potential funders, national trainers; regional TA providers; state education agencies and state mental health authorities in the four-state region.
Project Management, Reporting and Dissemination 15%
• Independently lead the training team’s project management use, process and continuous improvement through completion or delegation of tracking project activities, workplan oversight and create regular reports as requested by funders using remote collaboration platforms
• Independently effectively delegate support needs to program staff using remote collaboration tools (e.g. Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
• Independently lead the oversight of team member use and understanding of project management roles and responsibilities.
• Lead proposal development and present at regional, state and national conference on findings
• Aid in developing and dissemination of guidance and resource materials
• Independently lead the development of whole unit and small project meetings including ensure meetings are aligned to purpose, goals and outcomes of project.
• Assist in budgetary decisions and monitoring, scope of work development and workplan and budgetary oversight, unit policy and procedure development and overall team leadership.
• Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s degree in education with 5 years minimum work experience in the following:
o Managing complex implementation and/or policy efforts in K-12 school, district, regional settings.
o Content creation and providing training and technical assistance to state, regional service districts, school district or school teams or other school mental health professionals
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracist educational practices, culturally responsive and cultural adaptations of educational programming and interventions, and equitable discipline practices
• Advanced knowledge in education/school mental health frameworks such as Multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS) and positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and the Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF)
• Advanced knowledge in universal school mental health screening implementation
• Advanced knowledge of federal and Washington state laws and policies related to general education, special education, and school mental health
• Demonstrated dissemination through educational publications, conference presentations, technical briefs and other resources.
• Project management, including developing and managing budgets, and tracking milestones and timelines
• Excellent interpersonal skills to promote effective interaction and collaborations
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to promote team activities to diverse audiences
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working in a university training and technical assistance setting
• Experience supporting students in a K-12 environment
• Experience as a K-12 district administrator
• Knowledge of Implementation Science.
• Experience on K-12 policy and practice state level workgroups
