Responsibilities
Demonstrate your ability to create solutions and drive improvements as the Cranberry Engineering Manager, Test & Manufacturing Engineering. In this exciting role, you'll manage a diverse team of Test Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Test Engineering Technicians. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
+ Lead Cranberry Test and Manufacturing Engineers maintaining the right mix of skills, staff size, and individual development activities to achieve organizational objectives; collaboratively set objectives for staff members, monitor progress, and provide coaching and support to achieve desired results; develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the Cranberry plant
+ Advocate for safety in all aspects of Cranberry plant operations, adhering to company and site-specific safety policies, practices, and programs, including the OSHA VPP program.
+ Manage and allocate resources for both Test Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to support key stakeholders in Cranberry as well as support requests from other MSA locations.
+ Actively deploy the engineering resources to sustain existing test systems and assembly equipment and fixtures. Prioritize resources based on customer's needs as production demands change.
+ Leveraging the MSA Business System, allocate resources to effectively achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and CI goals.
+ Support initiatives to introduce new products into continuous serial mixed-model production, working collaboratively with product engineering to launch products on schedule at cost target
+ Utilize Manufacturing Engineers to support NPD assembly equipment and automation initiatives collaborating with the Operations Technology team.
+ Collaborate with the NPD Test Engineering Manager to ensure best practices are deployed across both Test Engineering functions.
+ Demonstrate the technical knowledge associated with test systems to best manage the Test Engineering team.
+ Engage the Jira system to understand trends in Test Engineering resource usage and use it to drive change within the team.
+ Develop programs and strategies for engineering and/or research of new or existing products. Continuously explore new opportunities, remaining open to new ideas, and championing innovation.
+ Collaborate with direct reports to establish developmental goals and plans. Create learning opportunities and monitor progress toward these goals. Ensure that employee development process is continuous.
+ Support the Cranberry Plant with CAPEX expenditures to meet annual CAPEX budgets
+ Plan and manage engineering budget and support plant conversion cost reduction plan to achieve annual goals.
+ Coordinate the development and implementation of test and manufacturing documentation
+ Effectively communicate information (both technical and administrative) to staff and senior management on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications
Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
+ Proven ability to lead, develop, coach, and motivate people; and to promote teamwork, individual accountability, and to influence attitudes and behaviors at all levels of the organization, including stakeholders and parties, internal and external, to the Cranberry site
+ Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
+ Proven ability to lead a diverse workforce and provide the motivation and sense of urgency to achieve increasing levels of performance.
+ Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks, solve technical problems along with proven project management skills
+ Proven ability to act independently, to take personal initiative, and to follow initiatives through to completion
+ Demonstrated and thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes
+ Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
+ Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions and drive change.
+ Proven ability to project a positive, professional image and promote positive relations.
+ Excellent decision-making skills including the ability to identify project obstacles and creatively develop alternative solutions. Make recommendations on course of action for approval and follow through.
+ Up to 10% domestic travel
Education and experience required:
+ B.S. in an engineering discipline, preferably from an ABET accredited program
+ 8+ years of relevant experience
+ M.S. degree may be substituted from up to 2 years of relevant experience.
Education and experience preferred:
+ M.S. in Engineering or MBA
+ Continuing education in management studies
+ 5+ Years manufacturing experience
+ 2+ Years supervisory experience
