Position Summary...
This is a high-impact opportunity to tackle one of the toughest and most critical product challenges in our organization: building a foundational planning tool that connects core merchandising operations across the company. You’ll be focused on piloting and rolling out this new product , with broad visibility and direct alignment to strategic business objectives. The problem space is complex and far-reaching, requiring systems thinking, cross-functional leadership, and relentless execution.
Success in this role demands more than technical expertise — it requires curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for solving messy problems with creativity and grit. You'll operate in the spotlight, shaping a core solution that powers how we make business decisions at scale. This is an ideal role for a growth-minded product leader who’s eager to learn, build, and drive cross-functional value.
What you'll do...
1. Build and Launch a Foundation-Level Merchandising Platform
Within your first 180 days, you’ll lead the user research, prototyping, and phased rollout of a new internal product that anchors core merchandising processes. This includes identifying user needs, mapping complexity across domains, and simplifying workflows that span multiple teams and technologies. You’ll start small, validate iteratively, and set the product up for long-term scalability. AI prototyping will be explored to evaluate where automation can simplify repetitive planning and decisioning workflows.
2. Own the Product Roadmap, from Zero-to-One and Beyond
Starting from an MVP, you'll shape the product roadmap in phases, aligned with business milestones. You’ll prioritize problems , lead cross-functional alignment, and manage rollout dependencies across teams. Success will be measured by how well the product supports visibility, decision-making, and operational excellence. Where appropriate, AI tools will be leveraged to support prioritization, performance monitoring, and iterative optimization.
3. Drive Customer-Centric Discovery and Continuous Learning
Within the first 30–60 days, conduct deep discovery to understand pain points across merchandising, data, and operations teams. You’ll interview users, identify gaps, and reframe ambiguous problems into opportunities. You'll gather fast feedback loops and remain flexible as new information emerges. AI-supported sentiment analysis and clustering tools may be evaluated to enhance qualitative insight synthesis.
4. Influence with Clarity Across a Highly Visible Landscape
Throughout your tenure, you’ll influence senior stakeholders and peers by communicating clearly, tactfully, and with strategic intent. You’ll help audiences understand trade-offs and decisions while championing the long-term vision. You’ll navigate complexity with poise — especially in high-stakes or ambiguous situations. AI-assisted visualization tools may be tested to support more effective storytelling and roadmap communication.
5.** **Establish** **the Mindset, Culture, and Systems for Resilient Product Success
You’ll serve as a cultural beacon for ownership, resilience, and growth mindset. You’ll lead by example: organized, thoughtful, people-savvy, and not easily discouraged. You’ll create repeatable processes, set performance norms, and help develop the product muscle across the broader org. From onboarding metrics to post-MVP iteration, you’ll create frameworks for long-term, scalable impact.
6. Apply Domain Expertise to Merchandising and Business-Driven Product Design
You’ll draw from your understanding of retail merchandising while maintaining a product management mindset. You’ll work closely with internal SMEs and ops leads to translate business goals into user-centric workflows. You’ll monitor industry best practices to ensure our merchandising systems meet enterprise standards and drive competitive advantage.
7. Continuously Evaluate and Integrate AI to Improve Performance
Within your first 90–180 days, take ownership of identifying how AI and automation tools can support or enhance core product responsibilities — from data insights and prototyping to user experience personalization and operational streamlining. You’ll document opportunities, pilot tools, and make the case for strategic integration aligned with business value.
