Cleveland Clinic provides comprehensive surgical services for patients of all ages. As an RN in the Cardiothoracic Surgery OR, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering top-quality care to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. With a focus on advanced technology, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience while helping facilitate the best experience possible.

A caregiver in this position works days from 9:00 a.m. -- 7:30 p.m. with on-call requirements after orientation. *Orientation period is 6 months, working days 6:00 a.m. -- 2:30 p.m. M -- F.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.

+ Perform scrub and circulating functions.

+ Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing

+ Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

+ One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic's Perioperative Residency Program

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

+ Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

+ Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

+ Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

+ Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.

Personal Protective Equipment:

+ Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
