As a Staff Dry Etch Equipment Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be working with a team of equipment and process engineers responsible for starting up, sustaining, and optimizing dry etch equipment to improve tool performance, reliability, and productivity. This role emphasizes hands-on ownership of Lam dry etch systems, including troubleshooting, hardware upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also support process integration and yield improvement efforts by ensuring equipment is operating at peak capability.
This position will identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment-related issues by applying methodologies such as failure analysis, FMEA, 8D, and SPC. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and completing equipment evaluations and upgrades, owning tool installations and qualifications, and collaborating with vendors to achieve quality, cost, and risk management objectives.
Responsibilities:
+ Own and lead Lam dry etch equipment performance, including uptime, throughput, and tool health metrics.
+ Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
+ Coordinate and carry out equipment evaluations, retrofits, and hardware upgrades to improve tool capability and reliability.
+ Support new tool installation, qualification, and ramp-up activities.
+ Maintain and improve preventive maintenance procedures and documentation.
+ Collaborate with process and integration teams to ensure equipment supports yield and quality targets.
+ Drive continuous improvement projects focused on cost reduction, productivity, and risk mitigation.
+ Support the development of engineers and technicians through training and mentorship.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ 3+ Years of hands-on Dry Etch Equipment Maintenance Experience
+ 3+ years of Semiconductor clean room/fab Experience
+ Strong understanding of vacuum systems, RF power delivery, gas delivery systems, and chamber hardware.
+ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering field.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 5+ years of hands-on Equipment Engineering experience working on Lam Research Toolsets, including specific experience with Lam dry etch equipmentin a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to creatively solve complex equipment issues and drive improvements in tool performance.
+ Ability to lead numerous projects simultaneously, achieving goals and timelines, while also successfully adapting to changes.
+ Strong computer skills and the ability to learn quickly new programs like JMP and other data analysis programs. Ability to use these programs to generate data-based problem statements and success criteria. Additionally, experience with data analysis tools and factory automation systems, including the ability to identify embedded correlations.
+ Solid interpersonal and collaborative skills with customers, partners, and managers.
