    Our Opportunity:

    Material Testing Technician - Construction / Building Products

    Summary

    The position offers the opportunity to gain knowledge while working with a variety of materials relevant to the construction industry including cements, polymers, adhesives, and chemical admixtures.   Will assist in preparing and testing both laboratory and field samples and reporting results to senior researchers.

    Key duties include:

    + Prepare samples for testing at a range of scales. Activities include mixing or powders and liquids, pouring, cutting, and polishing.

    + Test physical properties of cements, polymers, and adhesive from both field and laboratory preparations.

    + Organize and maintain identification of samples originating from many locations. Record sample preparation and test result data using digital tools.

    + Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment and tools. Complete and coordinate regular calibration and repair of instruments. Maintain inventory of standard laboratory supplies.

    Key Requirements Include:

    + Technical degree or laboratory experience in a related field.

    + Work safely around chemicals, high temperatures, power tools and equipment.

    + Ability to lift 50 lbs.

    + Ability to contribute to team projects; have a collaborative and positive attitude.

    + Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including direct customer support.

    + Required software skills are Microsoft Office, and ability to learn lab instrument software.
