MANUFACTURING ENGINEER- MACHINE OPERATIONS

SUMMARY
Lead and support machining operations for aerospace & medical device projects. Manage technical aspects of new programs and projects for a successful launch as measured by key indicators including safety, profit/margin, scrap, quality, manufacturing efficiency and process capability.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following:
+ Drive the design, development, and manufacture of necessary machining support gages and fixtures.
+ Drive, in cooperation with the Operations Team, the Engineering Department’s support of the Company’s financial targets and performance goals.
+ Manage the development of CNC machine related technical aspects of new programs and projects for a successful launch, aligning with internal APQP processes driving to meet key indicators including safety, margin, scrap, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
+ Support legacy product lines as needed to maintain targeted quality, delivery, and financial performance metrics. Support includes coordinating/implementing process improvement recommendations, updating tool/fixture designs to improve performance and the support of LEAN initiatives.
+ Support the creation and development of CAM programs (CNC Code) to support new product launches and legacy product lines.
+ Drive in cooperation with the Quality Department, the development of capable NPI machine processes, and reduced inspection based on improved capability thru continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Support the creation of detailed process documentation for machined product/product families and train operators to documentation.
+ Support company compliance activities.
+ Additional duties as requested by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Intermediate project leadership responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred, Associate’s degree (A.A.) and/or Certification Program from an accredited college or technical school is required; two or more years’ experience in a CNC machine production/manufacturing environment preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Technical Skills
+ Working knowledge of CAD/CAM/CMM principles and applications
+ Working knowledge of machine Gage & Fixture design and function
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Working knowledge of Multi Axis CNC Mill and CNC Lathe Machining Operations preferred
+ Knowledge of medical device and aerospace machining and regulatory requirements preferred
+ Strong ability to read technical drawings and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
+ Working knowledge of Gage R&R capability studies, SPC (Minitab), FMEA, DOE, Six Sigma or 8D
+ Working knowledge of ISO Standards
+ Working knowledge of LEAN Principles
+ Working knowledge of layout/inspection equipment and use such as Keyence, Polyworks for example.
+ Working knowledge of personal computer, keyboard, and various software programs
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
+ Lean Manufacturing Certification, SSBB, SSGB, SSYB etc. (preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; and talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or
airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
