    Job Description

    *This is a stipended position available only to current employees whose job status permits participation in additional opportunities. Please note: This is a semester-long role, and employment is seasonal and temporary.*

     

    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Twilight is a 10-week intensive credit recovery program designed to give high school seniors who have failed courses in any major subject area a chance to earn back credits to graduate on time. It is held twice per year in the Fall and Spring semesters at the John D. O’Bryant School. Students can choose from a range of core courses and can earn up to two credits per Twilight session.

     

    REPORTS TO: Position reports to the Office of Academics and Professional Learning.

     

    PROGRAM SCHEDULE: Twilight CFCs are required to attend all scheduled planning meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions, work all required program hours, as well as complete all required wrap up duties, as indicated in job description.

    + Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4-7pm (Session 1: 4-5:30; Session 2: 5:30-7)

    + CFCs are required to be present at least 15 minutes before program start daily (3:45PM)

    + September 30 - December 11 (snow makeup days as needed December 16 & 18)

    + One hour staff orientation session, September 25, on Zoom, 5-6PM

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Twilight CFCs assist teachers in providing an innovative, high quality education program designed to meet the needs of the student population in the program. CFCs work with program staff to create an educational environment in which quality and continuity are key factors in educating students. Due to the short duration of the Twilight program and the critical need to boost student learning during this time, it is particularly important that CFCs in the Twilight program:

     

    + Establish a productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students are respected.

    + Assist Site Coordinator with maintaining accurate attendance records.

    + Assist Site Coordinator with school-home communications.

    + Assist Site Coordinator and classroom teachers in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

    + Handle disciplinary issues as needed/identified by Site Coordinator.

    + Assist teachers in best approaches to classroom management.

    + All additional duties as indicated in program-specific job description.

    + Perform other related duties as requested.

    QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Forty-eight (48) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on one of the two following Formalized Standardized Assessments: ParaPro Assessment ( http://www.ets.org/parapro/ ) or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants ( http://www.act.org/workkeys/profcert/index.html ).

    + Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

    QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:

    + Current CFC at a BPS school attended by students in this program.

    + Prior experience working in Twilight and/or another Expanded Learning program

    + BPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity. BPS is particularly interested in candidates who are fluent in one of BPS' official languages:Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali.

    TERMS:

    + Community Field Coordinators are to be paid the rate of the position they are hired into for the summer program, that they or a CFC of their like step would receive for the identified position during the school year. Employees who hold a different role during the school year will not be paid at their school year rate.

    + Total compensation is set based on hours of work, including professional development, on-site program time, and additional duties.

    + $40/hr - Total compensation is set based on hours of work, including professional development, on-site program time, and additional duties. ($2,800 total)

    + Payroll will be processed after receipt of completed timesheets in the pay period after the completion of each Twilight semester, in accordance with BPS payroll schedule.

    + Per contractual requirements, Managerial Employees may not receive a stipend for this position.
