    Job Summary

    The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day nursing functions at all sites.  The Nurse Manager ensures that SHHC RNs have the skills, knowledge and equipment to perform their duties, and are scheduled appropriately to meet patient needs in accordance with the mission of Squirrel Hill Health Center.  The Nurse Manager will also oversee clinical competency trainings of all SHHC Medical Assistants and will track and provide the results of those trainings directly to the SHHC leadership team. Additional responsibilities include updating and maintaining SHHC’s clinical policies and procedures to ensure that the organization is fully functioning and compliant with all applicable laws and current evidence-based best practices. They may also participate in evaluation of clinical practices, at the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).  These managerial duties will comprise half of this full time position; the remaining half time will consist of an RN clinical practice as a member of the SHHC medical team.  The Nurse Manager reports to the Chief Medical Officer.

     

    Responsibilities and Duties

     

    + Performs telephone triage, answering questions, screening, and determining need for immediate care, for patients of all ages

    + Reviews lab results and refers abnormal results to providers

    + Coordinates emergency room visit and hospital discharge follow up as documented in SHHC procedures;

    + Acts as liaison between patients and providers

    + Obtains release of information to seek necessary records (plan of treatments for rehabilitation services), and ensure proper review and follow-up with providers

    + Sets priorities for nursing intervention in collaboration with health center clinicians, patients, family and other health professionals

    + Identifies and initiates immediate nursing interventions as appropriate

    + Accurately and consistently documents all patient interactions in Electronic Health Record

    + Maintains confidentiality and is compliant with HIPAA

    + Refers patients for support services for necessary social services

    + Coordinates immunization clinics and other offsite prevention services at the direction of supervisor

    + Develops and implements standing orders for Nurses and Medical Assistant staff under direction of CMO

    + With the Chief Medical Officer, provides annual evaluations of supervisees

    + Assesses educational needs of nursing and medical assistant staff, creating and implementing learning opportunities to maximize performance and competency

    + Creates clinical competency training for all Medical Assistants and works with the leadership team to ensure that they are completed and documented in a timely fashion

    + Annually reviews and revises policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory guidelines

    + Participates in activities designed to promote continuous learning and updating of skills

    + Works closely with other Management level staff to ensure complete supervision of all support staff, a smooth patient flow, uniform processes and procedures and high-quality patient care in keeping with the Mission of SHHC

    + Participates in regular meetings and reviews with CMO to ensure that all job functions are being performed as required

     

    Minimum Qualifications and Skills

     

    + BSN, MSN preferred

    + Current Pennsylvania nursing license

    + Minimum of two years of professional nursing experience

    + Management experience preferred

    + Work experience in a community or public health setting preferred

    + BLS certification

    + Vaccine advocacy
