Job Summary and Qualifications

What qualifications you will need:

The Emergency Services (ES) Transport EMT will operate on the Palms West Transport Services’ Team. The primary duty of the ES Transport EMT will be to assist the Paramedic in rendering safe and effective treatment and transport of Palms West Hospital patients. The ES Transport EMT will respond to Transfer Center requests, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately. As needed, the ES Transport EMT may function within the free-standing Palms West Hospital Emergency Departments and the main Palms West Hospital Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the ES EMT will provide quality care to patients under the direction of a Paramedic or RN, in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Palms West Hospital. The ES EMT will perform all duties identified in their job description, approved Medical Protocols, and departmental policy. Skills will be validated by competency assessments under the License of the Palms West Medical Transport Medical Director. The ES EMT will serve as a member of the Healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. The ES Transport EMT will attend meetings, education opportunities, and in-services as required by departmental policy, and contribute to the growth and development of their self and the Palms West Transport Services’ Team. The ES EMT will maintain good working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital staff.

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

+ Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date

+ (EVOC) Emergency Vehicle Operations Course must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date

+ Drivers License

+ (EMT-State) Emergency Medical Technician

+ Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate

We are an Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Primary Stroke Center. HCA Florida Palms West Hospital has emergency services, a dedicated New Life Center and a Level II NICU.
