    + Under the general direction of the Director and Medical Director, is responsible for coordinating and supervising activities (technical operations, personnel management, quality control and financial management) in the assigned service area(s) of accountability.

    + Establishes priorities, delegates responsibility and effectively utilizes department time, personnel and equipment within the service.

    + Ensures that customer service standards are maintained in the department at all times including ability to proactively intervene in situations of those not directly involved in assigned area.

    + Supervises the retrieval, editing, storage and budgeting of supplies and various requisitions with vendors to ensure proper handling and best pricing of administrative supply chain. Assure the efficient use of departmental supplies through systematic inventory control with appropriate PAR levels. Manages supplies inventory including new products, linen and supplies usage, par levels, and supply charges.

    + Assigns and prioritizes workloads, evaluates, and standardizes administrative operating procedures and effectively troubleshoots and resolves issues as they arise. Informs staff of inter and intradepartmental policy procedure changes.

    + Acts as the liaison to other hospital units or departments regarding security, safety, project management, financial access unit, information resources, and research. Facilitates communication flow and procedures between technical, clerical, support staff, students and other departments. Works to promote positive rapport between department and nursing departments. Represents service on leadership team and other committees as assigned.

    + Provides direct supervision to Cath Lab personnel and participates in the staff hiring process. Develops/ improves competency based training programs for Cath Lab area. Evaluates performance, and assists in the corrective action process as necessary with the Director. Interprets hospital policies and ensures adequate coverage for areas of responsibility. Ensures that staff technologists maintain professional appearance and conduct. Oversees orientation, training and cross training of new staff, assesses their ability to work independently, communicates policies and procedures to staff and verifies orientation paperwork.

    + Provides ongoing instructions and assistance with procedures, equipment and processes.

    + Works closely with the Director to develop and maintain fiscal reporting, annual operating and capital budget related to administrative processes to director. In collaboration with operations manager, monitors budget performance during the fiscal year, verifying accuracy in the monthly budget statements related to area of expertise. Resolves discrepancies and reporting errors as needed.

    + Reviews and corrects procedure coding and charges in conjunction with the coding department for accurate medical records and charges.

    + Controls the flow of patients within the section, in an efficient and timely fashion.

    + Routinely monitors and maintains scheduled quality assessment and improvement for departmental PI program. Assists with quality assurance projects.

    + Works with department administrative team to establish employee work schedules, payroll and overtime authorization.

    + Ensures that preventative maintenance is performed routinely per guidelines on all equipment within modality. Keeps department administrative team aware of any equipment service issues.

    + Ensures that areas functions in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations including certification requirements.

    + Arranges for service of equipment and department repairs as required and monitors the suitability of repairs. Ensures delivery and service reports for purchases, equipment repairs are filed and recorded appropriately.

    + Performs all responsibilities and maintains the required certification of a staff Cath Lab Technologist.

    + Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular principles, practices and techniques.

    + Demonstrates the ability to identify problems, generate and analyze feasible solutions and choose an optimum course of action.

    + Demonstrates the ability to function as a team member and provide support when needed.

    + Prepares necessary equipment for all procedures and assists physicians as needed.

    + Participates in general organization and stocking of the Cardiac Cath Lab procedure rooms with necessary supplies.

    + Reports equipment failure and notes any potential safety hazards.

    + Attends in-services for equipment and supplies. Occasionally participates in scheduling of procedures.

    + Assists physicians in cardiac invasive and non-invasive procedures including scrub, circulation duties, and operating physiologic monitoring equipment, and radiologic imaging equipment (within scope of practice).

    + Assists in precepting/training other personnel.

    + Adheres to the policies and procedures of the organization, department, and regulatory and accrediting agencies in the care of the patient.

    + Wears identification badge so it is visible to patients and others.

    + Performs duties in compliance with patient and general safety practices as described in hospital policies and procedures.

    + Documents assessments, interventions, and patient responses to interventions on a consistent basis.

    + Assess and monitors vital signs according to professional standards of care.

    + Interprets data to determine a change in the patient’s status, and takes appropriate measures, including the timely notification of the physician.

    + Demonstrates skill in the use of patient care equipment.

    + Utilizes ACLS protocols in emergency situations.

    + Demonstrates knowledge of specific disease process, treatments, interventions and responses based on age specificity, patient needs, condition, impairment, or disability.

    + Physically prepares patients for Cath Lab procedures.

    + Follows aseptic and sterile technique.

    + Able to remove venous and/or arterial sheaths/introducers from procedure site(s) (i.e., left or right groin, left or right antecubital, etc.). Obtains hemostasis via direct pressure or angioseal placement, if qualified and permitted. Follows sheath removal protocol.

    + Participates in monitoring patients’ ECG and vital signs and communicates variances to nursing staff and the physician.

    + Assesses and documents patient/family/SO learning needs, abilities, learning preferences, and readiness to learn based on age specificity level of understanding, and cultural norms.

    + Provides assigned patients and families with explanation of procedures, treatments, and medications.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:

    + Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Science.

    Certification:

    + RCIS required.

    Experience:

    + Advanced ECG interpretation skills required. Experience in (RCIS) Radiology/Acute Care Facility and in invasive Cardiology required. Communicates effectively orally. Has strong interpersonal skills that reflect a positive attitude and a sense of commitment to our patients, work associates and community.
