    Job Summary and Qualifications

    Major Responsibilities:

    + Develop and direct standard process for monitoring of product utilization in key categories.

    + Develops and leads the implementation of product standardization and utilization initiatives across the system.

    + Identify and reduce product and case variation while optimizing the appropriate use of product to ensure efficient, cost-effective and high-quality patient care.

    + Develop and implement facility or division-based strategies and processes to reduce supply expenses per adjusted admission.

    + Identifies and implements supply expense margin improvement with a primary focus on high cost of good departments to include surgical services, cath lab, ep lab, and special procedures.

    + Identifies facility(s) supply expense variances and develops action plans to mitigate an increase in supply expense and participates in monthly operating reports and supply expense planning.

    + Participates, develops content and facilitates value analysis meeting such as facility based, division based, service line or physician led meetings.

    + Utilizes clinical product value analysis committees to review products and technology for clinical evidence and benefit; discuss financial considerations to include contract compliance, cost and reimbursement; identify opportunities to standardize products and reduce waste; and maintain or increase product quality and patient outcomes.

    + Build relationships and increase customer satisfaction with hospital leadership, chief medical officer, clinical directors, physicians, value analysis teams and supply chain leadership.

    + Responsible for the coordination of all product trials or pilot programs which are required to support the decision-making process. This includes coordination with key stakeholders for site selection, development of trial/pilot feedback forms, collection of forms, analysis of responses, and coordination with vendor representatives to ensure a successful execution.

    + Develop content for the clinical value analysis committees to include reviewing products and technology for clinical evidence and benefit; understanding financial considerations to include contract compliance, cost and reimbursement; identifying opportunities to standardize products and reduce waste; and maintaining or increase product quality and patient outcomes.

    + Develop relationships and collaborates with facility leadership and staff, physicians, and supply chain to identify, develop and implement continuous quality improvement and cost containment processes for supplies, technology and labor practices.

    + Rounds within the departments and observes procedural cases to identify opportunities and build relationships.

    + Participates with facility medical staff and clinical staff to monitor, communicate and make improvements in product standardization, appropriate utilization and reduction in waste.

    + Ensure communication and education regarding product and procedure changes occur in all affected departments, including physicians and medical management personnel.

    + Ability to understand and conduct financial analysis of quantitative and qualitative information through strong data mining and analytical skills.

    + Reviews, analyzes, maintains and communicates facility(s) financial and performance measurements as gauge of standardization, utilization, clinical outcomes and reimbursement success.

    + Identifies and communicates alternative products during product recalls or back orders.

    + Supports the facility(s) during human-caused or natural disasters.

    + Demonstrates the traits, inclinations, and dispositions that characterize a successful leader; and exhibits a behavior style that meets the demands of the leader role. The key leadership actions are engaging people and driving toward success, sustaining a positive lookout, and inspiring confidence.

    + Interacts and develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their customer needs and challenges. Creates external and internal customer confidence, sets achievable customer expectations and demonstrates responsibility for solving customer challenges by soliciting opinions and ideas from customers to improve products and services.

    + Manages projects within scope, time, and budget; collaborates with organizations to track and analyze financial data; and performs data mining to quantify financial impact of supply and operational savings.

    + Demonstrates project management skills by determining action steps and milestones required for each project and collaborates directly with key stakeholders to implement a specific business initiative.

    + Provides effective communication, which includes verbal and good listening, writing, and presentation skills, to a variety of stakeholders from executives to staff; demonstrates effective problem solving and time management skills; and demonstrates knowledge and expertise by servicing as a facilitator, technical advisor, subject matter expert and analyst to key stakeholders and team members

    + This individual must demonstrate the ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately; communicate and execute in a matrix organizational structure; adapt to change in workload and work schedule; and develop culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

    Requirements for the role:

    + Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Health Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy or other Allied Health Profession)

    + Related experiences in healthcare value analysis, clinical supply chain, or acute care hospital performance

    + Min of 5 years of clinical / healthcare experience is required. (Acute care setting / patient care experience preferred.)
