Overview
To negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers. Manage vendor relationships and prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies. Independently provide purchasing support for customer-related business processes. Maintain in-depth knowledge and experience in specific discipline to support customer(s). Solve complex problems with minimal guidance; take a new perspective using existing solutions. Perform complex/difficult tasks with considerable scope and latitude.
Responsibilities
+ Analyze purchase requests and specifications to determine appropriate vendor(s) to produce the job to meet standards
+ Review requisitions and negotiates within budgetary limitations
+ Obtain material from supplier at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability of source and urgency of need
+ Determine method of procurement
+ Develop effective lead time schedules for purchases
+ Maintain procurement records such as items or services costs, delivery, quality or performance
+ Discuss defective or unacceptable goods/services with customers, vendors & management to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
+ Employ value analysis techniques to determine cost savings and vendor performance
+ Negotiate contract terms and conditions
+ Collaborate with business partners to ensure the purchase order cycle is completed appropriately
+ Ensure project deliverables are met in accordance with customers' expectations, timelines & budget constraints
+ Coordinate receipt of materials/services with vendors
+ Serve as liaison to business units, vendors, and procurement support staff to promote positive communication, efficient timeline for purchase orders, and inventory control
+ Serve on teams and task groups for projects/initiatives
+ Lead, guide and mentor less experienced staff
+ Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ Significant experience in standard purchasing and contract principles/terms/conditions, written bid/proposal preparation, and purchasing/inventory software
+ Significant experience in quality control and auditing as it pertains to contracts
+ Advanced knowledge of contracts and their impact on projects
+ Advanced knowledge of cost containment strategies in the area of procurement
+ Advanced skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
+ Advanced word processing and spreadsheet software skills
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a discipline in Procurement
+ Familiarity with Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
