JOB SUMMARY:
The VP is responsible and accountable for effective operations of Essentia Health Duluth. The areas include the Behavioral Health, Surgery Operations, Medical Surgical Unit, Observation Unit and Physician Clinics located in the Essentia Health Duluth footprint.
This key executive will partner with the Nursing Team, SVP Hospital Operations and the Physician and Operations Leaders for the services provided in EHD. Responsibilities include defining, aligning, developing and executing the plans for EHD operations, entities and key stakeholders. Further, this person will create an environment of ownership and accountability in all facets of the EHD operations.
EXPERIENCE:
7-10 years of senior leadership experience, preferably in hospital and multi-site ambulatory operational activities, including surgical and behavioral health services.
Candidates must have demonstrated competencies in leadership, communication, operational management, and achieving results. Specific experience or knowledge is required in the following areas:
+ Navigating and influencing within a matrixed organizational structure, fostering collaboration across service lines and functional teams.
+ Driving operational efficiency and addressing facility challenges to support organizational growth.
+ Understanding and implementing business strategies, with the ability to formulate concise solutions to complex problems.
+ Utilizing qualitative, quantitative, and process analytical skills to set priorities, make decisions, and measure performance while balancing competing priorities.
+ Leading organizational transitions and effecting sustainable change management strategies.
+ Strong financial management, including revenue forecasting, cost containment, and negotiation skills.
+ Building trusted relationships with physician partners and service line leaders to optimize care delivery.
+ Proven experience in multi-site operations and a strong understanding of the challenges inherent in an operating company structure.
+ Familiarity with faith-based or mission-driven healthcare systems, ensuring alignment with organizational values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITES
The Vice President – Essentia Health Duluth will:
+ Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day direction for EHD operations, aligning organizational goals with operational objectives.
+ Drive patient census growth from an average of 80 to 90, enhancing patient flow, building trust with physicians, and optimizing resource utilization.
+ Lead efforts to prepare for and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting bodies, including readiness for Joint Commission surveys.
+ Foster an environment of collaboration, communication, and accountability across corporate functional areas and operational teams.
+ Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing leaders and teams, ensuring a motivated and competent workforce.
+ Enhance systems, processes, and metrics to track organizational performance and achieve financial, growth, and operational targets.
+ Collaborate with the finance team to forecast and monitor revenue and financial performance, aligning resources with strategic priorities.
+ Serve as an advocate for EHD operations, holding teams accountable while fostering collaboration across regional and corporate operations.
